Olympics Coverage - History

So she was still the same in Glasgow, as to what she was in Sochi.

who is the clown hosting 7two coverage

I don’t mind the Seven set per say, but it’s very average. There’s nothing ‘Olympic’ about it - pretty bog standard - it could be coverage for anything. Can someone do a compilation of other networks’ sets for Olympics coverage?

Don’t know if these have been posted before

I was watching Todd overnight and thought he was fine.

I agree that they need to go back to having a local studio for future games. Hosting from Sydney does the job but it is a big weak spot in coverage that I think has otherwise captured the spirit/energy of these games quite well.

Shows that the set isn’t virtual. You also see a lot of shadows spilling onto the big screen which don’t look fake - they’re too soft to be. You can add shadows in virtual sets but they always look fake.

She was dreadful in Sochi and awful in Glasgow. So yes, she was pretty much the same at both.

Couldn’t agree more - hopefully these are her last.

Someone was telling me last night she was useless because the people in her ear had let her down at that moment. No. She’s just as awful tonight. For example, she has mispronounced her colleague’s name (Liz Chetkovich) multiple times this evening. Just no attention to detail at all. Verbal garbarge.

No problem with Mel in the last update a couple of minutes ago.

Not sure why anyone thinks she’s going anywhere. Seven would have seen her work at Sochi and Glasgow and they hired her,

Oh, well good to know she got through one 3 minute period where I had my head turned and couldn’t confirm.

I didn’t say think. I said hope. Of course she’s not going anywhere - she is very obviously not hired for the quality of her presenting abilities. Same as Hamish. So another shocking Olympics means absolutely zip.

Even the BBC’s green room is more impressive than Seven’s main set!!

I asked a few days ago if there’s a web-browser version of the app. It was supposed to be at seven.com.au/olympics, but all that’s there is streams of the channels, not a selection of sports. I want to keep watching the road race while the rugby is on.

Seven is falling into old habits. Coming back from the last three breaks on 7Mate we’ve had studio waffle, reviews of recent events, what’s on the other channels, the stupid megawall, etc. Just go straight back to the race like you did yesterday.

Bill Woods is just as boring and reminds me of sport on Ten in the 1990s.

Guys… Make sure you take some time to actually enjoy the games and the wealth of coverage being provided rather than obsessing about the set, watermarks or how many mistakes someone makes. Enjoy the Aussies representing their country.

Have you been re-dployed from Sunrise PR while the Olympics is on?

Well that bbc set above shits,on sevens. Every set I’ve seen is better than sevens. They’ve done some things well but there are some massive failures that are very obvious.

Sure - but all those factors feed into the overall broadcast and therefore enjoyment by viewers.

It’s why Richie Benaud, for example, is synonymous with people’s memories of cricket - and a bumbling idiot like Ian Healy is not.

Well, it only took a day for Seven to go from good to crappy. Yesterday there were breaks of 3 minutes for the road race. Today it was 5-6 minutes, with a minute or two of that various replays, promos and such, and I think the breaks were more frequent. Maybe yesterday was just to get viewers in a good mood before they hit us with all their fluff and waffle.
