Olympics Coverage - History

It seems BCM automate part or all of the network watermarks.

Because as soon as it hit 2pm (AEST) the “Live & Free” flicked off…

(i.e.) For Kylie Gillies highlights show.

Yet the Beach Vollyball is still going… LIVE

In Southern Cross SA territory it is still showing as “live and free”

It’s virtual. Can see behind the presenter it looks slightly rendered. The podium is real but I am convinced the background is virtual!

They are going by highest amount of medals

America do this every Olympics…
they count the medal numbers - not the gold…

its well known they do this

I keep expecting Laurie Oakes The Crusher to appear on the circle that the presenter is standing in.

I feel only the screen is virtual. Base of screen not virtual. Too much reflection from lights and presenters creating shadow on it.

App is now working properly. Sound and premium content all working perfectly

If you know you’ll win the most medals then that’s the way you’ll want to do it I guess.

That journalist Laurel Irving is great, really like her :+1:

I think she’s covered the Oscar Pistorius case extensively?

Now, didn’t she also work for Ch 10 many years ago (couldn’t confirm that)

The difference is Ten managed IIRC the six streams they provided for the Sochi Winter Olympics by cherry-picking what they wanted to show. Seven are using an app which is created and managed by OBS for rights-holders who wish to use it. The streams of the events provided are the same one people in New Zealand and Ireland (among other countries) get since they are using a version of the same app.

Generally, the Megawall is a useless gimmick. However it genuinely has a legitimate role for the Olympics coverage in providing a quick way for the hosts to provide an overview of what is being shown on the other channels/the app.

I found that weird too since there were quite a few events that they could and should have aired. It definitely wasn’t a strategic strategy because 7mate were showing beach volleyball whilst the swimming was on.

I know TSN has a few reporters in Rio for Sportscenter but don’t think they’ve been apart of their coverage since it would probably be a CBC-managed production (like how Sportsnet produces the HNIC games which air on CBC).

Anyone know how to access the 7 Olympics website?

If you’re on a mobile device?

It doesn’t seem to let you, just “download the app”

Can we get the hosts some seats and a desk? Standing looks rather uncomfortable!

Regarding virtual set - there is a central raised area with a slight dip to the outer ring (see stepping down) with a shadow on the white bottom section.

I’m sorry, but Hamish needs some presenting skills!!! He sounds so dull, boring and lifeless! I’ve seen better on Briz31
