Olympics Coverage - History

That Canadian set looks awesome, why Australia can’t produce anything like this is beyond me :roll_eyes:

Well the first 24hrs of coverage has already put Nine to shame after a dismal London 2012 effort. Obvious why seven is the best when it comes to olympics coverage, from an Australian broadcaster perspective.

If you had fox in 2012 you didn’t watch 9. Fox did the most comprehensive coverage. No chopping and changing between any events across 8 channels. So it actually was better than what seven is dishing up. Ten did a very good job In Sochi and Glasgow.

I’m was simply comparing free to air coverage. And to be fair seven with it premium ad free coverage on the app has Foxtel covered. I have been watching it on my Tv through app

No “live and free” text on a currently running live event. Inconsistent.

What do you mean? I have the live and free on my screen.

Great swim. However, the Campbell sisters could learn a thing or two about humility from Mack Horton. Their cockiness is reminiscent of what brought the swim team unstuck in London 2012.

I think people might have misunderstood the Campbells. It’s just exuberance IMO.

I would to commend Seven for not showing one minute of tennis (that I noticed anyway in 12 hours of channel flipping). I hope it stays that way because I already watch sixteen tennis grand slams between Olympiads.

Well, it probably helps they are actually in Rio so they can have one of the stadiums in the background. Personally I prefer it over the Seven set — much smaller but much more simplistic.

Oh right. I knew someone would correct me.

Perhaps I should have said Dennis was the best swimming caller and I miss him lol

It’s hard to believe there is still event going on in Rio after midnight (beach volleyball) even though locals in Rio do love late night party.

Finally desktop version is working. Was able to sign in and got access to Premium content. Guess I can stream it now via Chromecast to my TV. Still wished they did a deal with Foxtel and allow to show some events on a couple channels. Even if they not Foxtel owned channels.

The set looked virtual from first caps but now that I have seen it on air I don’t think it is virtual…The throws to the olympic updates etc makes me think it is real.

So when is Kylie hosting? The afternoons or evenings next week?

@nationalnews Kylie is hosting afternoons.

I agree way too much shadows from presenter for a virtual set. I believe you will find it is a physical set with virtual elements for example the social media ring above is virtual, the graphics and the images on the screen behind.
