Heard “Untouched” by The Veronicas on Hit 104.7 yesterday. They’ve been flogging that song as of late, and Wilko called it (IIRC) “the unofficial Australian anthem” after it finished.
I saw on the Hit 104.7 Sydney (where I’m staying) and they played Spice Girls Wannabe. This song has Been flogged for many years now on various radio stations.
That’s funny, an anthem that most people wouldn’t have heard of…
The Breeze usually play songs I like but this morning they dropped this Clanger,
Aerosmith, ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’![]()
Probably the worst popular song of the 90s that one (and it’s a crowded field). Cannot stand the caterwauling in this one:
“‘Cause even when I dreeeeaaaammm of yeeewwwwwwwww”
I like to put an M Rated twist on that song, given how silly some of the lyrics actually are.
Couldn’t agree more. I reckon if I were to do a top 20 (ok, maybe top 50) list for this thread, this artist would feature multiple times. Love in an Elevator is another shocker.
Should have been Weird Al material!
Slightly off-topic
During the WBBL coverage on Channel Seven tonight, I could hear Ariana Grande/The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” playing through the WACA speakers (at about 11:10pm Sydney/Melbourne time) on my TV.
An instant station changer for me.
I’m sure this has been incorrectly attributed to him. The artist is actually ‘Barry & The Bookbinders’ and it was played on the Dr. Demento show. I first heard it on a US pirate radio aircheck.
Of course, this one gets an annual play on The Conga Line (as does ‘Who Farted’ by The Vaughans).
One that, if it hasn’t been mentioned in this before, surely must qualify for this list - Pearl Jam’s “Last Kiss”.
Not only is it utterly depressing lyrically, Eddie Vedder’s wailing “oh where oh where” is unbearable. And instead of the somewhat decent songs from Pearl Jam’s catalogue being given another run, this rubbish cover of some forgotten sixties song gets flogged. Instantly makes me change the channel.
I’d seriously far rather the 10 millionth play of “Jeremy” or “Better Man” than ever hear this again. But better yet, dig a bit deeper - I heard “Given to Fly” this morning as well which was far more enjoyable.
I agree, this would have to be the worst Pearl Jam song ever.
One of my favs from Pearl Jam. I hear this a bit on the Rebel ![]()
Agree. The song is woeful.
Yep, my issue is that it’s such a bland and inoffensive song.
I always enjoy the occasional play of Black, which is my favourite song from Pearl Jam.
Yesterday morning, I happened to hear “Boys in Town” by Divinyls at my local gym in Maitland NSW and again on Triple M Newcastle via “Nights with Dave Gleeson” tonight at the time of writing this comment. As much as I do like Divinyls and the legacy of lead vocalist Chrissy Amphlett, I do hate to say this but this song alongside “I Touch Myself” has been flogged to death by the Triple M network from hell and back for many years. I do love some of the lesser played songs by the band such as “Back to the Wall” and “Sleeping Beauty” which is another underrated classic.
Agree with “I Touch Myself”, but pretty much every other Divinyls song is underplayed to my ears.
Even “Science Fiction” doesn’t seem to get played much more.
I’m sick of this one too ,even 4BH played it recently,WTF???
And it’s been flogged to death on stations Triple M and 97.3 FM plenty of times over the years
There eems to be a proliferation of very ordinary and generic covers/samples being played lately. CYRIL is the main suspect at the moment with his covers of Fall at Your Feet - Crowded House and True - Spandau Ballet. The David Guetta cover of Forever Young is also dreadful, and he’s another regular creator of bad covers
Probably a general reflection on the sad state of music these days.
