Oh no, not that song again!

I hear this song on EVERY station around Christmas. Like there are better Christmas songs then this!!!

Millenials and GenZ have decieed this is the only christmas song that matters. It’s kind of amazing how she had a large amount of hits (enough to warrant one of the #1 hit compilations in the 2000s and now her entire career is seemingly defined by an overrated Christmas song)

In fact she still holds the record for most US #1 songs by a solo artist at 19. Only one behind the Beatles.

I also don’t really get why people have such a problem with All I Want For Christmas. There’s nothing wrong with it. Sure there are lots of other Christmas songs out there they should play, but I think it’s just become trendy to bash it.

I’m a Millennial but I can’t stand that song.
Michael Buble sings Christmas songs better.

The internet and its yearly obsession with it probably didn’t help. I remember having no problem with it up until 2018 when it started to get overused online in things like Instagram stories and then other things that have popped up since like YouTube Shorts and TikTok.

And now all of that is pretty much invalid because she has a Christmas song

But he is very much insprired by the crooners of the 30s-50s and those guys sang really good Christmas songs, Just go listen to the first Sinatra Christmas album for proof those guys were great at singing Christmas songs.

I think ā€œJack And Dianeā€ is worse, but ā€œHurts So Goodā€ is not far behind.

I love music but I’m ’fraid I will go Mark Brandon Reid styles and cut the ears off if I hear another Olivia Rodrigo track… :flushed::joy:

Would happily have both banned

I mean, This is the problem with Australian radio is that the playlists are very shallow so you’re only going to get 2-3 songs for certain arists and they get hammered into the ground. Some artists its a slightly deeper pool of songs but even then they also get hammered into the ground as well. Honestly, FM radio is terrible and I don’t really understand how it is still viable when a lot of people would have music streaming or podcasts if they wanted something talk based. Hell, Spotify generates a morning drive style thing for you with music and news updates and information.

Is that a podcast?

I’ve tried their AI DJ feature and the voice is a bit repetitive and American sounding, tends to play the same songs a bit too.

I definitely agree with plenty of these, but I don’t see what’s wrong with ā€˜It’s A Mistake’ by Men At Work (surely, it is?) and ā€˜Only Time Will Tell’ by Asia, a great AOR track. Some of the 60s tunes listed are fine in my books too, especially ā€˜Hooked On A Feeling’ by BJ Thomas which is far superior to the ā€˜ooga chaka’ version that Blue Swede put out.

Thanks again for compiling this list and excellent to see an update for the fresh mix dot com, even if it is temporarily back to a ā€˜retro’ site (not that it’s entirely bad).

As for ā€˜Don’t Call Me Dude’, it’s definitely a wrong song, but I still love it  You say you’ll never play these, but I wouldn’t mind hearing the 104 Stinkiest as a feature one day!

Heh, a lot of these songs also belong to the ā€œSongs Lost to Radioā€ thread too!

@anonymousbroadcaster the fresh mix station is a great online station.

I’m sick of these songs now:
Belinda Carlisle, ā€œHeaven is a Place on Earth ā€œ
Another singer who had plenty of hits and they play this one all the timešŸ‘Ž
Wet Wet Wet , ā€œLove is all Aroundā€ 1994 version, the original is so much better

She has so many good songs.

ā€œMad About Youā€, ā€œIn Too Deepā€ and also ā€œLeave A Light Onā€ are my favourites of hers (despite the last one getting flogged mercilessly on the radio).

I’m not all that keen on ā€œSummer Rainā€ though, that one gets overplayed too.

Can you explain the lyrics? She wants you to leave a light on for her because as soon as you close the door, she’ll be there to give all the loving you need. Which light does she want on? It sounds like she’s inside already so the light should already be on.

In the bin! cracks whip
