Obviously Rabs resting up before Wednesday Night. Matt Thompson did both Channel 9 games this weekend.Probably not unexpected

If Rabs retires, do they go with Matt Thompson or do they hire someone else or even(gag!) go with Tim Gilbert or Yvonne Sampson? i hope it isnā€™t Tim or Yvonne, maybe it will be Matty or even they hire someone from FOX. Matt Thompson is actually better than Rabs these days. he, Warren Smith, Vossy, and Joel Caine seem to be the best of the ā€œmain callersā€ these days, even Glen Lamar(Sky NZ )does a better job than Rabs.

Any predictions as to what time we think kick off will be tonight for SOO given how late Nine pushed it back last year. Iā€™m going for 8.27pm.

First NRL game that I will be forced to watch the Nine coverage. Time to bring out the radio like we used to to avoid having to listen to The Voice of NSW Rugby League and the painful commentary from Phil Gould. :slight_smile:

First time in a while I wonā€™t get to see SoO Game 1.

Still in US of A, and my hotel doesnā€™t have FOX Soccer channel, which is apparently showing the game live here (3am local timeā€¦ yawn).

According to my guide itā€™s also on FS2. You might have access to that.

No, no FS2 here (or any FOX Sports) channels.

Only channels showing sport in my hotel are a couple of ESPN ones and TNT.

Surely Iā€™m not the only one who wouldnā€™t be terribly surprised if Nine is actually paying the NRL/State Of Origin organisers to pad things out so as many ads and promos as possible air before kick-off? If thatā€™s the case, an absolute joke and it needs to be stopped!

The game starts when Nine wants it to/is good and ready.

Thereā€™s a reason virtually every Nine-led game is a lottery for when it kicks off yet Fox is almost bang on every week (give or take a minute or two).

Not sure, but at least (what I presume is) a live scorecard is a slightly better use of bandwidth than that dark blue placeholder!
