NRL on Nine

People wanting to hear Ray Warren’s call instead.

I don’t know if his call makes up for all the ads, promos and crap that infests Nine’s coverage.

Rabs is doing tonight’s game Broncos v Cowboys from Brisbane

I don’t think it does either but I think it’ll be the case. Especially in his last year (supposedly)

Freddie Cam? Sounds like we’re getting up short views of the player’s wedding tackle.

I use the NRL Digital Pass and I don’t think they’ve used Nine coverage once this year. Or have I missed something?

I’ve thought though the first two rounds, who gets primary commentary position between Nine and Fox? And where do they sit at smaller grounds like Brookvale when they cover games at smaller grounds.

I reckon it’s the host telecaster that gets priority, although Fox gets priority over radio. There was a game at Shark Park where MMM called from the studio having being turfed to fit the Fox team in.

Q CUP SCHEDULE UPDATE

RD 8: Tweed vs Mackay
RD 9: Burleigh vs Townsville

RD 11: Capras vs PNG

RD 13: Townsville vs Norths
RD 14: Burleigh vs Wynnum

Nine gets first preference as ‘host broadcaster’. You can tell Fox is using some pretty pokey sort of areas from the times they have crossed to Nine-hosted games to talk to callers pre-match or at half-time.

would there be a ground with less box’s than Shark park? From what I’ve seen there seems to be only a few box’s. I think only 6 - 8 and they’d be tiny too. With the removal of the video reff box it adds another position for coverage which fixes those problems

Clubs could re assign that box however to fit in another corporate, although in that week’s instance all of 2GB, ABC and MMM were covering the game (only ABC covered that night’s Melbourne vs Gold Coast game), so perhaps this is a once off. However I’m sure that grandstand and others at suburban grounds like Kogarah and Leichhardt would have small numbers given they were built in the days where there may have been a single radio station covering the game (there was one game in Wollongong one year where the North Queensland biased callers had to call from a little box on the hill side of the ground, it has since been demolished), maybe Channel 7/10 or ABC as well if it was lucky to be a Saturday game (assuming they didn’t go for the scaffolding on the roof like the 60’s VFL callers did). More modern grounds would have multiple boxes and areas to cater for extra call teams.

Eventually they’ll all be forced to commentate from ‘interactive studios’.

Probably after Rabs retires

I call this “Roy and HG” style :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember a few years ago in 2012 Fox did a warriors game with Andy Raymond calling from a studio because Dale Husband was a crap caller

Seems like Nine are no longer referring to the NBN brand in the network ID at half time during NRL games.

Today, Matthew Thompson just referred to it as “the Nine and WIN networks”.

…and the slow Nine-ification of NBN Television continues!

don’t tell Ryan, the Canberra boy will have a sook :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t get me wrong, Gus Gould makes some good points and comes across as a very knowledgable commentator, but WHY does he have to repeat it ad nausem for the next five minutes… It’s like, get over it, Gus!

16 plays later and he was still going on about a disallowed try due to a blatant obstruction. Move on already.

Yes, that’s the one I was referring to as well… He’s done it many times before in other games.

So “Nine Wide World Of Sports” (Nine Sport), now has “LIVE and FREE”.

Finally changed/gave into pressure from Seven Sport (2014) > then Ten Sport.

Also a dig at Fox Sports :stuck_out_tongue:

has for a couple of months.
