NRL on Nine

I know Vautin lived in Qld with his wife once his work at Nine was reduced, and would fly down just for the Footy Show. I assume he still lives up there? Maybe Nine realised they were paying him too much money and he will now be commentating Broncos (and some Titan/ Cowboys) home games that are being played on Friday nights?

From what I read Fatty is signed up for all Friday night games. sterlo also got bumped of the Sunday footy show. Also Ray Hadley can’t commentate any game on 9 that 2GB does. Matt Thompson joined 9 last night full time. Left Sky news program Sportsnight I think he was the producer.

So if Hadley can only call non 2gb games that means he won’t ever feature on nine. So that’s a good thing. Looks like matt Thompson will be the main back up caller to Rabs.

Just heard Ray Warren say “live across the Nine, WIN and NBN networks” on Friday Night Football. It’s good to see Nine acknowledge the regional networks.

They’ve been doing that for a while now.
Started sometime last year.
I think they only do it when going to the half time break.

I’m pretty sure that Ray Warren has been saying the “live across the Nine, WIN and NBN networks” line for a few years now…

I found out today during the Sunday NRL Footy Show, which for NSW/ACT is normally 2 hours, but QLD viewers only get the first 90 mins then get a local NRL program called “Broncos Insider”, which I had never heard of before. It’s then followed by a QLD Cup game broadcast.

My Google searches indicate that “Broncos Insider” has been going since 2014.

And Broncos insider is a horrible program too.

Today I had the chance to watch the QRL game today on 9 and to my surprise it is in full HD and it looks spectacular!!

Wow, that’s great news!

I’m guessing they’ve used the HD Outside broadcast truck that was up in Townsville for the Cowboys v Roosters game on Thursday night.

How many HD-capable OB trucks would there be in 2016, surely most of them?

NEP Australia are the OB company that facilitate all NRL games in Australia

Global (now NEP) have a fleet of 10 HD broadcast trucks

And there is also Gearhouse Broadcast, who look to have 10 x HD trucks, 1 x HD/SD truck and only 1 SD truck

one80 seem to do the OB’s, always see their vans down at Dolphin Oal or Bashup Park. Wasn’t this the NBN OB company? I seem to remember the fanfare as NBN had the first HD OB facility here.

This is the 4th season of Broncos Insider. I’m pretty sure that prior to that there was a similar Broncos themed program with an different name.

Yes one80 is NBN’s OB department and are based at NBN Television in Mosbri Crescent, Newcastle.

just asking i think Nine is having Peter Sterling host their coverage in a effort to challenge Matty Johns(who is hosting Foxtel’s coverage) although having a former player like Sterlo can add a lot as the anchor, Matty Johns has done that role for Foxtel for some time?

During Origin time, it’s replaced with…MAROONS Insider. I suspect it’s a time buy. They’ll need a new host for it this year given the bloke who hosted it last year now is in arguably the most important job in Queensland over the 6 week period.

I don’t understand these tweets. If you have Fox Sports, why wouldn’t you already be watching on Fox Sports? HD is the only reason I can think of but I can’t imagine too many Fox Sports subscribers without HD .
