foxsports & Nine like to send Jornos in there to do an interview post-match some aren’t shown until the next day. So all this would be affected.
So obvious the NSW bias of Nine’s team. Siren goes and it’s not “QLD wins the shield” it’s “NSW avoid a wipeout” ![]()
Matt Thompson is easily the worst NRL commentator and calls the big games. Shows how bad 9 are how how shallow their commentary pool is. They desperately need to throw money at Vossy or Ginnane.
Well, they won the Shield a game ago - tonight’s result wouldn’t have changed anything in that regard so why would that be the line at fulltime.
The outcome tonight was whether it was a clean sweep/whitewash or consolation win for NSW.
I don’t think Thompson is that bad … his offsiders like Gould are worse.
Ginnane and Voss wouldn’t sound much better alongside them.
Voss is better of the bunch then daylight. Ginnane should go back to commentating on Radio

MARLEE SILVA JOINS NINE’S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS
Women’s rugby league explodes when Nine becomes the new home of the NRLW for every game, live and free on the 9Network and streamed on 9Now, from Saturday, July 22.
Ahead of a landmark season for the NRLW with the most games played in the competition’s history, players from all 10 clubs were on hand with Nine’s Wide World of Sports to celebrate every game being available to watch for free on the widest reaching platform in the country.

EVERY NRLW CLUB WAS ON HAND AT NINE AHEAD OF THE 2023 NRLW SEASON TO CELEBRATE EVERY GAME BEING AVAILABLE FOR FREE IN 2023
The 11-week season sees four new teams joining the NRLW competition from the Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, North Queensland Cowboys and Wests Tigers.
The new Queensland teams, the Titans and Cowboys, start the season in a triple-header of NRLW games that will feature the reigning premiers, the Knights, at home to the Dragons, and the star-studded heavyweight club battle of Broncos v Roosters.
Nine’s commentary lineup for the 2023 NRLW season will feature former Jillaroos Ruan Sims and Allana Ferguson, hosts Emma Lawrence, Danika Mason and newcomer Marlee Silva, plus Roosters captain Millie Boyle, along with support from the entire Wide World of Sports rugby league team.
Speaking at Nine’s NRLW season launch, reigning premiership-winning captain Millie Boyle said: “I’m so excited for the 2023 season because the expanded schedule, the four new clubs and every game available for free has provided a platform to take the NRLW to the next level."
“Every club has made significant changes to their rosters, so form guides from last year go out the window. It’s going to be a very closely contested season.
“The women’s game continues to grow, so we hope we can put on a great show and inspire the next generation of NRLW stars to follow in our footsteps.”
In an action-packed season draw, the NRLW broadcast schedule will feature four Saturday triple-headers, regular Sunday double-headers leading into NRL Sunday Footy, three prime-time games on Channel 9HD, and two stand-alone Thursday night games during the 2023 NRL finals series.
From the first week of August there will be nine weekly free-to-air games across the NRL and NRLW, with women’s fixtures leading into men’s games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Matching its commitment on the field, Wide World of Sports will broadcast a dedicated women’s rugby league show on Channel 9 and 9Now titled NRLW Wrap, plus a weekly NRLW podcast with Sims and Silva titled NRLW Weekly.
Every NRLW game will be available to stream anywhere at any time on 9Now.

NRLW 2023: EVERY GAME, EVERY ROUND
LIVE AND FREE ON CHANNEL 9HD AND 9NOW FROM SATURDAY, JULY 22, AT 12.30PM
Note that the NRLW coverage will be mostly be on 9Gem in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and partly on 9Gem in Sydney and Brisbane.
Not just mostly, it won’t get main channel in non-NRL states.
With no Melbourne team for the NRLW yet, i doubt they’ll show any games on Nine. IF they have do for contractual reasons, it will be a Saturday match “lunch-time game” as more as a filler, than anything else. I can’t see Adelaide or Perth getting any main-channel coverage.
That means from late July to late September, there will be a live rugby league game on Nine every Saturday night, either NRLW or NRL.
It’s a stroke of luck for Nine, essentially ‘fixing’ the Saturday prime time issue they’ve had largely for decades now but especially since Ten’s AFL / Seven’s rise to No.1 era and Funniest Home Videos fizzling out and FTA’s decline later. Rugby Union (if good enough game to rate), Ashes / Wimbledon, NRLW / NRL and next year Olympics too. They really only managed to air one movie (franchise) this year in Harry Potter which seemed to drag out months!
A slim chance that the southern states might get the NRLW Grand Final on the main channel, particularly if they play it in the afternoon and finishes by 5pm.
They didn’t put it on 9 last season
In Melbourne, only the post-6:30pm coverage is shown on the main channel (I know this because I was in the Victorian capital on holidays in the year of the 2019 GF).
Set works well with the Dragons and Tigers colours.
Since Hey Hey it’s Saturday was axed in 1999…
Apologies if this is the wrong thread but why did Nine by the Rights to the NRL all-stars series and then choose to air it at 10:40 pm on a Friday night? Is this the only time this is on? I think this was originally a NITV program.
