ROUND 9 ON NINE

REYNOLDS V THE RABBITOHS

STREAM NRL FOR FREE ON 9NOW

The red-hot Rabbitohs meet the high-flying Brisbane Broncos in a blockbuster edition of Friday Night Footy this week, available to stream for free on 9Now and watch on Channel 9HD.

After knocking off the Panthers, the Bunnies have found their groove in 2023 and must now contend with the familiar face of Adam Reynolds, who is out to ruin their run with his table-topping Broncos teammates Reece Walsh and Pat Carrigan.

But first up in NRL on Nine it’s Thursday Night Footy, where star halfback Nicho Hynes will continue his surge for a New South Wales Origin jersey when his Sharks host the Cowboys.

The man of the match tonight will be awarded the inaugural Paul Green Medal. Johnathan Thurston, who was a close friend and premiership winner under Green at the Cowboys, will be on ground live for Wide World of Sports.

After fighting hard but falling one-point short on ANZAC Day, the Dragons will take on the Bulldogs at WIN Stadium in Wollongong in Sunday Arvo Footy.

The Dragons’ shining lights Ben Hunt and fullback Tyrell Sloan need to fire up the Red V or risk their season falling away, under relentless aerial attack from the “Burton bomb” from Bulldogs playmaker Matt Burton. The Dogs have found their bark with solid performances so far this season, which will make this an evenly fought contest.

Wide World of Sports has exclusive access to all three venues across the weekend.

Interesting to see Brenton Speed listed as the commentator for Dragons v Bulldogs game… I think that would be the first game he has called for Nine?

His calls on FOX have always been good, a handy addition to Nine’s commentary roster along with Thommo and Salts.

He called the Tigers-Sea Eagles game last Sunday and the Cowboys -Dolphins game in round 6

Nine will give NRL on the main channel in Melbourne another go with the Storm v Broncos game on Thursday 11 May. Not a bad option with no AFL on Thursday nights.

That “Exclusive Live & Free” tagline isn’t accurate considering Fox are able to show State of Origin matches on delay. As such, Nine should really be saying “Exclusively Live & Free”.

Agree, and ‘Exclusive Live and Free’ doesn’t make really sense grammatically.

New desk setup (closer to the cameras) makes the studio look bigger!

They have been using it over the last few weeks and I don’t think it looks too bad. They really need a new desk though, it just looks cheaply made and you can clearly see the individual panels of the front screen.

Don’t like the look tbh. Looks cavernous. It’s not a nice looking backdrop.

SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTY LIGHTS UP MAGIC ROUND ON NINE

THE TODAY SHOW LIVE FROM BRISBANE

TOMMY TURBO AND REECE LIGHTNING ON FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY

SATURDAY NIGHT STORM V RABBITOHS

STREAM NRL FOR FREE ON 9NOW

The biggest and best games of Magic Round, including Storm v Rabbitohs on Saturday Night Footy , are available to stream for free on 9Now and watch on Channel 9HD this week with NRL on Nine.

First up, on Friday Night Footy the Brisbane Broncos hope to make Suncorp Stadium a “house of Payne” when giant prop Payne Haas returns to face the Manly Sea Eagles.

The Sea Eagles are back in Turbo mode with injury-plagued superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic returning in an attempt to hit top gear on the run to the State of Origin series. However, he’ll have to deal with Brisbane’s Reece lightning, boom fullback Reece Walsh, who’ll be out own the limelight with another electric performance.

The “Trellmit” train driven by Latrell Mitchell with his Rabbitohs teammates onboard rolls into Suncorp for Saturday Night Footy, steaming up against an ominous Melbourne Storm outfit fresh off the bye.

The Rabbitohs are in red-hot form and have dismantled teams in their four-week winning run, which ironically began after a loss to the Storm in Round 5. Will revenge be served up by the Bunnies or will Cameron Munster and Harry Grant work their own magic once again?

Start your Sunday the right way with the Sunday Footy Show live from Suncorp Stadium at 11.00am, with Origin coaches Billy Slater and Brad Fittler weighing in, before the Roosters v Cowboys on Sunday Footy at 3.00pm.

Nine accidentally went to an ad during play a few minutes ago.

Latrell Mitchell missed a sitter of a penalty goal which Nine (and everyone else) thought he would kick, we heard the commentator say “but it’s hit the upright and missed!”, the ball bounced back into the field of play and then the ad started… Buf to their credit Nine cut the ad short after 10 seconds and went back to live play.
