Freddie looks excited to be there, doesnt he?

He had probably just found out that the Roosters had been smashed by the mighty Sharkies!!

This was the cross for Brisbane during the 6pm news.

The fire alarm is going off and smoke in the channel 9 building during Footy Show but they still going ahead? Did I miss something?

I’m fairly sure they went overboard with a smoke machine for the announcement of Emma Tonegato joining the Sharks in the NRLW.

I’m pretty sure the smoke was from a smoke machine. Pretty funny the way it all played out to be honest.

Now if they were still at Willoughby, they could still produce such shows in the car park. No such chance of doing that at North Sydney!

Wait what?

The moment firefighter started to pass the footy

ANZAC WEEKEND NRL

FOUR GAMES FOR FREE

THURSDAY NIGHT: RABBITOHS V PANTHERS
FRIDAY NIGHT: EELS V BRONCOS
SUNDAY: TIGERS V SEA EAGLES
ANZAC DAY: ROOSTERS V DRAGONS

STREAM NRL FOR FREE ON 9NOW

The powerful ANZAC spirit will be celebrated this week in NRL on Nine in four games of rugby league free, available to stream on 9Now, and watch on Channel 9HD.

An annual highlight on the NRL calendar, the Roosters v Dragons clash on ANZAC Day will headline the week in front of a full house at the new Allianz Stadium for the first time. The stirring build-up to kick-off, featuring the Last Post, will be captured by Wide World of Sports with exclusive access to the ground from 3.00pm on Tuesday.

ANZAC Round fires up on Thursday Night Footy when superstars Latrell Mitchell and Nathan Cleary face-off in Rabbitohs v Panthers.

The Panthers have been the Rabbitohs’ kryptonite in recent seasons, beating them in a Grand Final and knocking them out of the preliminary final in 2022. However, this year the teams seem closer than ever, and don’t be surprised if passions spill over.

The Brisbane Broncos will burst on to Friday Night Footy when they meet the Eels in Darwin.

Sitting pretty at the top of the table with Adam Reynolds pulling the strings, Payne Haas leaving a path of destruction and Reece Walsh ripping through the backfield, the Broncos look ominous but need to keep it going against the Eels, 2022 grand finalists.

And Sunday Arvo Footy pits the trying Tigers against Tommy Turbo’s Sea Eagles. The Tigers are desperate to get into the winners circle and face a tough task in containing a bruising Manly forward pack and Origin stars including Daly Cherry-Evans and Jake Trbojevic, Tom’s tireless brother.

With tonight’s game coming from Darwin, it’s no surprise to see only Danika Mason and Jonathon Thurston at the ground with the coverage being anchored from the Sydney studios.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters had a cheeky dig at Nine during a live interview “How come you guys are not up here? Have you got restrictions or something?”… Freddy Fittlers coy response was that Darwin was “too hot”.

Bottled water product placement?

Certainly wouldn’t stay cool for long in Darwin’s 32 degrees and 75% humidity tonight.

BEGINS SATURDAY JULY 22

Nine’s Wide World of Sports has made a landmark investment in the growth of women’s rugby league, with every game of the 2023 NRLW season to be broadcast live and free in HD on the 9Network and streamed on 9Now.

The biggest season of free-to-air rugby league in history just got bigger with the expanded 48-game NRLW season, kicking off on Saturday, July 22, and showcasing the women’s game on the platform with the biggest reach in the country.

The 11-week season sees four new teams joining the NRLW competition from the Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, North Queensland Cowboys and Wests Tigers.

In an action-packed draw, the 2023 NRLW broadcast schedule features four Saturday triple-headers, regular Sunday double-headers leading into NRL Sunday Footy, three prime-time games on Channel 9HD, and two stand-alone Thursday night games during the 2023 NRL finals series.

From the first week of August there will be nine weekly free-to-air games across the NRL and NRLW.

Matching its commitment on the field, Wide World of Sports will broadcast a dedicated weekly women’s rugby league show on Channel 9 and 9Now, plus a weekly NRLW podcast.

Nine’s commentary team for the NRLW season and Women’s State of Origin will feature former Jillaroos Ruan Sims and Allana Ferguson, hosts Emma Lawrence and Danika Mason, defending NRLW premiership captain Millie Boyle along with support from the entire Wide World of Sports rugby league team. There will also be new announcements in the coming weeks.

NRL CEO, Andrew Abdo, said: “In 2023, there will be new rivalries and new timeslots with every match being broadcast on the 9Network nationally and primetime coverage for the first time ever.”

Head of Partnerships and Strategy at Nine’s Wide World of Sports, Simon Fordham, said: “In partnership with the NRL we are dedicated to growing the women’s game, and what better way to do that than making every game of the NRLW available live and free to existing and new fans across the country.

“The new broadcast agreement for the expanding NRLW competition required all stakeholders to unite and make decisions based on the growth of the sport. We look forward to showcasing the talents of these incredibly gifted athletes on Nine in what has become the most entertaining women’s football code in the nation.”

Every game will be available to stream anywhere at any time on 9Now.

So nothing on Fox?

I imagine most if not all of this will be on FOX as well, I can’t imagine much of it being a Nine exclusive (just like with the mens NRL games).

Looking at the draw on the NRL website, Kayo/Foxtel are listed alongside Nine/9Now for every game.

Also, no mention of “exclusive” in Nine’s release plus mention of “Free”.
