NRL on Nine

Thanks, wow yes, Storm game should rate OK since it’s on before the AFL game, but yeah, dunno about my Sharkies!

Tasmania will also get Nine News Saturday at 4.30pm, and 3 out of 4 finals live on WIN this weekend.

Even better that NRL Women’s is also being shown on the main channel in Melbourne too, given the fact the Storm don’t have a team in the competition yet.

Ray Warren: Calling Time

Friday, September 30, at 7:30pm on Channel 9

Nine’s Wide World of Sports will present a unique insight into the life of one of Australia’s greatest broadcasters and characters in Ray Warren: Calling Time, on Friday, September 30, at 7.30pm.

Nostalgic, funny and irreverent, this special tribute to his life relives the soundtrack to many of the most memorable moments in Australia’s sporting history and dives deeper into the world of the man affectionately known as Rabs.

From the way he prepared in his home office before calling some of the biggest moments in sports history to his upbringing in the regional New South Wales town of Junee, to the chemistry of how the commentary box worked behind the scenes – it’s all there in Ray Warren: Calling Time.

Hosted by James Bracey, a stellar cast of some of the biggest names in Australian sport as well as Rabs’ colleagues share their experiences and never-before-heard stories of working and travelling with him over four decades of his broadcasting career.

The special will feature Ian Thorpe, Paul Vautin, Peter Sterling, Phil Gould, Giaan Rooney, Bruce McAvaney, Andrew Johns, Johnathan Thurston, David Gyngell, Billy Birmingham (The 12th Man),Peter V’landys and many more personalities when it goes to air on Channel 9 in the build-up to the 2022 NRL Grand Final.

Nine Director of Sport, Brent Williams, said: “Ray Warren is without doubt one the greatest and most iconic sports broadcasters our country has ever seen – from the young boy calling marbles rolling down a slope to the legend providing the soundtrack to Origin’s most memorable moments, and everything in between. Calling Time is a celebration of Rabs’ incredible career and his remarkable journey to becoming the best ever.”

The NRL Grand Final broadcast is exclusive, live and free on Channel 9 on Sunday, October 2.

NRL Preliminary Finals and NRLW Semi-Finals head up a huge weekend of live and free footy on Channel 9 and 9Now

  • Queensland hopes riding on Cowboys to beat the Eels
  • Panthers v Rabbitohs Grand Final rematch on Saturday
  • NRLW Semi-Finals and Prime Minister’s XIII in Sunday footy feast

A ticket to the big dance – the 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final – is up for grabs this weekend in two epic preliminary finals Live and Free on Channel 9HD and 9Now.

Only four teams remain: the pride of Queensland – the North Queensland Cowboys, the Parramatta Eels out to break the longest premiership drought in the NRL, the South Sydney Rabbitohs on a huge revenge mission, and the premiership powerhouse that is the Penrith Panthers.

From Friday night at 7.00pm, it’s lights, camera, action in Townsville when the Cowboys host a preliminary final for the first time in the club’s history, against an electric Eels outfit led by Mitchell Moses that is ready to shoot down their doubters and bring an end to 36 years of premiership heartache.

Written off at the start of the season, the Cowboys will have the whole state of Queensland saddling up with them to ride into the Grand Final, behind wrecking ball Jason Taumalolo and the X-factor of their superstar centre Valentine Holmes.

On Saturday night at 7.00pm, the immovable force of the Panthers, the minor premiers, meets the unstoppable force of the Rabbitohs, Latrell Mitchell, in a mouth-watering 2021 Grand Final rematch.

The Rabbitohs have a score to settle after finishing runners up, but will need to find a way to stop another halfback masterclass from Panthers playmaker Nathan Cleary.

A Sunday feast at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane will round out the weekend with four straight games, beginning with two action-packed NRLW semi-finals and the Women’s and Men’s Prime Minister’s XIII against Papua New Guinea.

Nine’s Wide World of Sports will have the best in the business covering a scintillating weekend of footy. Hosted by James Bracey, rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns, premiership-winning captains Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston, Brad Fittler, Paul Vautin, Paul Gallen, Darren Lockyer, and multiple premiership winners Billy Slater and Phil Gould AM, will make sure you don’t miss a thing.

In commentary, Mat Thompson, Peter Psaltis and Ruan Sims will call the action with Danika Mason, Allana Ferguson and Emma Lawrence on the sidelines.

“Ray Warren: Calling Time” just aired. It was a good simple doco on Rabs. It was nice seeing that Nine mentioned that he worked for Channel Ten for a few years. early in his career. And not hide the fact. And a nice touch at the end for allowing Bruce McAvaney doing a small piece (with a Seven pin on his shirt), wishing Rabs a happy retirement.
