Good call! Brent James is indeed on now that 2GB have gone to the election.
Listening to the ABC NRL Call between the Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs via 612 Brisbane via Skywave Reception. At least I know a way to listen to the game when there is election coverage on local 97.3
Triple M Brisbane will get Storm v Roosters on Thursday night, bumping the AFL clash between Lions and Pies to digital radio.
Triple M will broadcast Knights v Warriors on Easter Sunday evening, but not in Newcastle where the game will be played. Why?
Triple M Newcastle have a local call
Are ARN (ex-Grant) stations taking any coverage this year? Or sticking with local sport and music?
I am part of the Triple M Newcastle NRL team. We were on air from 5.56pm until 8.45pm with our award winning call.
Great coverage as always Mark
Can someone tell me what 2SM/SRN are currently broadcasting?
It doesnât sound like a live call of Sharks v Roosters right now.
Yeah at 6pm it was just on relay of SEN. It didnât really sound like a call of the game.
I flicked over to a publicly accessible off-air receiver in Newcastle at half time in the Friday 6pm game due to increasing interference to my reception of my local SEN Track. It sounded like 2HD was being fed âHigher Groundâ rather than the correct call. Higher Ground is the dull ramble psuedo call which gets fed to the SEN streams instead of the actual call, so I guess it was fed to SRN/BOG by mistake.
Not the first routing error at SEN in recent weeks. A couple weeks ago a WA-based AFL match had two calls which were fed to the wrong stations. The WA parochial call got fed to eastern states, affiliates and the AFL website, while the national call got fed to the WA stations. This got fixed at half time.
At first I thought it was a rights issue, with online streaming of the match not allowed.
It baffles me that SEN seemingly now doesnât have streaming rights for NRL games. Considering how much they emphasise their app, would have thought they wouldnât agree to a rights deal that doesnât give them streaming rights.
I have a feeling that SCA and LISTNR have had something to do with that.
Which is BS because nobody should have âexclusive streaming rightsâ
Normally ABC News Radio in Victoria will broadcast every Melbourne Storm match in full this NRL season, however tomorrow (Thursday) the Stormâs home match against the Broncos clashes with the stationâs coverage of Opposition Budget Reply from Canberra and also House of Representatives sitting, so the match may only be available on ABC Listen app. The NRL kicks off at 7.50pm AEST, while Opposition Budget Reply is from 7.30pm to 8pm AEST.
FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY!
SportsEars is now available as an app! I think itâs only for NRL at the moment, but will try for the Waratahs as well. $10 a month though, so its proably cheaper to buy the unit or a cheap radio that can access the frequencies, but for the convienence, Iâd consider it.
They could cross to the football when the Budget Reply speech is finished?
But then they need to have all the analysis of what Mr Potato Head said. And all that palaver.
I can save them the trouble. Here is what Dutton will say - I didnât like it, I think I can do better, but I canât, woe is me. There. Saved you at least an hour.
So is this just audio?
This sort of thing wouldnât be needed in AFL would it, given the controlling umpireâs mic is close to always live?
Yes.
Apparently the app syncs up with the commentary when youâre at home, and if youâre at the ground using location services to get the sound synced.
AFL used to have SportsEars. But they switched to a different system.
