NOVA 106.9 MOVES TO SUNCORP STADIUM FOR STATE OF ORIGIN
Queenslanders have declared it’s game on with the first State of Origin game happening this Wednesday and Nova 106.9 is moving their studio to Suncorp Stadium in support.
Nova’s Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill will broadcast live from Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday morning alongside Channel 9’s Today Show and the team will back up that evening with a pre-game broadcast at the stadium.
The Nova team is excited to host a rollcall of retired Origin superstars on their show including Johnathan Thurston, Darren Lockyer and Sam Thaiday.
Susie O’Neill has been particularly focused on the Queenslanders preparation sharing her opinions with listeners around the motivation coach used by the Queensland side this year.
Susie has thrown her support behind Kevin Walters’ use of the “coaching whisperer” referencing her own experience as an elite athlete where attitude preparation was as important as the physical.
Nova’s outside studio will be built in the shadow of the Wally Lewis statue - which may be a bit weird for Mitch Lewis, one of the show’s producers dubbed “The Prince” as he is the son of King Wally Lewis.
Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie will all wear vintage SOO jerseys that either belong to them or have been gifted to them by players.
IF they had a local drive show…

Back to back Ed Sheeran this morning. Fitzy takes the piss, that once Ed Sheeran releases a few more tracks from his latest album, Nova will become Ed Sheeran FM.
They’re starting from 5pm, so Brisbane will only be getting one hour of KTM today
You don’t bloody say! The irony of how often you drone on about the repetitiveness of Nova Sydney is clearly completely lost on you.
For the sake of all of our sanity, please find something else to listen to/do. Please.
Feel free to ignore my posts if you can’t handle the truth.
For the record, I also hate overly repetitive playlists. But typing the same thing over and over and over again in a thread is not contributing anything.
I am analysing everything and highlighting what are the worst aspects.
For the record, I do listen to other stations. I have to these days because listening to the same station (any station) long term, would drive anyone insane. I am flipping around the dial and listening to The Edge, KIIS and 2Day now, whereas I used to only listen to Nova. I think that’s what makes me more qualified to be so critical.
Nova with it’s incredibly repetitive playlist will likely continue to be treated as a lower priority in Sydney & Melbourne for as long as Smooth continues scoring the #1 FM ratings in both markets. Making sure that WSFM & Gold don’t become #1 again is probably a bigger priority for the company while Nova 96.9/100.3 is performing relatively OK compared to 2DayFM Sydney/KIIS Melbourne.
Next question please!
Apologies for the double post, but here’s something that might be of interest: A Nova 100-branded hot air balloon (which thankfully, made a safe emergency landing in a suburban backyard)!
I didn’t think they used Nova Boy in any of their branding any more.
Only for outdoor promotions (eg. that balloon, street team gigs where there’s either a giant inflatable Novaboy or one dressed up etc.)
I don’t know why, the nova boy was the last bastion of ‘fun’ from the branding…
The killing off of Novaboy coincided with the killing off of ‘cheekiness’ for Nova.
Yeah. He was great.
I went to the Nova100 website to see if they commented on their balloon crashing and nada. But I did smile … Nova100’s album cover matching algorithm needs a little more attention - or maybe the issue is that it is the same algorithm used by Smooth
Fitzy and Wippa not on a break this week, while other radio teams are on their usual “out of survey” break.
Good. Most of us are working
