If it’s true that Fitzy and Wippa aren’t being renewed, then I wonder if Kate won’t make a return. I assume her contract is up at the end of the year too. Nova have done the right then by her - $1 million+ (possibly closer to $2 mil) to not turn up to work for potentially a whole year is a lot. They’d surely have grounds to terminate the contract but likely just want to avoid the bad PR.
I think Kate has been off air for too long for there to be much backlash if they did terminate her contract if Fitzy and Wippa go.
There would be no show for her to go to. Ricki Lee, Tim and Joel are a complete show, they dont need Kate in there with them

I doubt she is being paid when not at work. There would have to be a clause in the contract that protects Nova.

Kate mentioned that it had been planned for her to come back earlier but she caught a cold which is why she sounded like she still had a blocked nose.
Back, but for how long? To see out her contract until the end of 2025?

After 13 years and 92 ratings as the number 1 evening show in Australia….The time has come to hang up the headphones in Smallzy’s Surgery.
What a ride… When I first started the show in 2012, I never would have imagined getting to do the things I have done, from the celebrity interviews, to Nova’s Red Room and travelling the globe covering the biggest events. They’ve all made the show something very, very special.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the show. I leave with fond memories, lifelong friendships, but most importantly I’m grateful to every single person who has ever chosen to spend their night with me.
The Surgery doors will close for the final time this Friday 15 August 2025. We’ve got a whole lot of history and one final week to relive it all. Smallzy x
