Nova Network

Yes. I’m sorry if I went overboard with my reaction

Thank you for your apology.

I don’t post anything but the truth here. I would never make up something.

I think he’s filling in for Jermaine

It’s an interesting dilemma for Nova.

Where can they permanently slot Mitch into their schedule?

I’d start by giving him the weekly countdowns to host. Take some of the load off Smallzy.

Then again, he could really be a good successor to the much older Smallzy.

So Nova now has Mitch Churi, Ben Liam & Belle, Mel & Matty, Maddi Rowe etc just waiting in the wings.
How do they keep all that talent as well as their flagship shows?

I still cannot work out how Chrissie Swan is on brand for Nova.

She really needs to shift to smooth.

And I completely agree. Nova has an overload of talent and shows squeezed everywhere.

Spread them out with either late night shows, or weekend breakfast & weekend night shows.

If dare say the Sydney breakfast show will need to be replaced within the next 2 years and they have some choices, especially between Late Drive and Mel and Matty.

And yes agreed re Chrissie but apparently she rates well.

You could see a breakfast show on Mel and Mitch, perhaps for Sydney? Fitzy’s already moved to Adelaide, and Wippa and Kate wouldn’t be strong enough as a duo.

How would Mel and Mitch be any different to Fitzy, Wippa and Kate currently works?

Mel is Melbourne and Fitzy is in Adelaide.

Same difference.

I thought FWK are doing well in the ratings

The Daily Telegraph article report that this a one off at the moment, so it sounds like he doesn’t have a permanent job at Nova yet. But it does signal that both parties are interested in seeing if there can be further opportunities.

Nova run a very tight group of daytime announcers who regularly work across all stations on weekends, late nights, filling in for other talent/announcers, so it would be easy to slot Mitch into that roster. There’s probably also enough behind the scene operations work to keep him busy in a full time role. The question though is that going to be enough to keep him interested without a headline show? Initially maybe because he’ll be happy to just have a job, but it will be a step down from his position at KIIS. Maybe the better culture at Nova which everyone raves about will add to that. Also in Nova’s favour is that that there’s not exactly many other opportunities at other stations for Mitch at the moment. He’ll be a great addition to a future lineup when a spot opens up on a headline show, but can they keep him around for that long?

But good on Nova for recognising good talent that their competitor seemingly didn’t value.

They are doing well. People always want to come on here and look for reasons to dismantle things when there is no reason to do so.

From what I can see here people are talking about future prospects not replacing current talent now.

Anticipating a very established and ageing show will come to an end eventually is not looking to “dismantle things”, it’s called responsible forward planning, so you don’t end up in a situation where you have no talent for a major slot opening.

But I don’t see the same amount of speculation on Media Spy for Kyle (53) and Jackie O (50 on Thu) who are both older than the oldest team member Fitzy who is 48.

Probably because we’re too busy clowning on them for their questionable content :stuck_out_tongue:

She sounds great on Nova! Yes they are overloaded with shows but after 6PR cut local content I found myself switching to Nova and Chrissy and her panel op are hilarious, fit in perfectly IMO

Don’t be obtuse - one is a show that’s #1 in Sydney and on a $200 million deal; the other is Fitzy & Wippa.

Pretty sure Fitz, Whip and Kate had their best ratings ever last year. Highest share aince the boys first made the move from drive IIRC. It’s a great show so I don’t think they’ll be needing to move them on just yet
