Complaints are useless (unless you are a rich Australian that lives in Bermuda…)
maby they got told if you change it u will be fired lol
Occasionally I saw the transparent ones appear on ONE and ELEVEN here in Newcastle.
It happened during an “Everybody Loves Raymond” episode on 11 as well.
I’m guessing their playout systems simply failed to engage the supersized blobs.
I thought the feeds they get from Ten are clean (ie no PRGs, no watermarks). So the transparent logo would only appear if it was deliberately generated, or if they’d gone into backup mode/gone dirty. If there was any issue with the WIN watermarks, surely viewers would see no watermark at all.
The ONE and ELEVEN feeds aren’t clean…
The unnecessary super sized full colour watermarks only cover over the standard ones that Ten use for these channels
I’m impressed that they’ve actually acknowledge that WIN is the same as Ten!
No consistency with using the WIN logo though, on all the online / print advertising it only uses mappy when referencing the network not the main channels.
I wonder why WIN bothered to add the extra channel needed to have that placeholder slide? Keeping the remnants of 9Life on air makes a tiny amount of sense, but they’ve not made any use of it in a year - why would they put the effort into having it added in NNSW as well.
Yes, promos for shows only seem to have either the WIN lettering (no mappy) or WIN in a round circle, but the watermark is always ‘mappy WIN’.
There needs be a consistent look for WIN on air and off air.
Probably for consistency. It gives them the exact same setup everywhere - the only difference being the numbers start with 5 instead of 8.
It also means that if they want to add another channel in the future peoples TVs are alt day tuned to it and they don’t need to go through the hassle of making sure people rescan (although some would still need to rescan to get the channel name updated, it doesn’t hugely matter if that’s not correct for everyone).
The Ch 53/83 slide must be an east coast thing only because it has never aired on WIN in SA or WA
Probably because they also broadcast Nine as a Joint Venture channel with GWN7 in WA and are the sole operator of all three networks in SA.
I’m guessing on that basis that Channel 83 doesn’t appear in Tassie, Mildura or Griffith either.
Channel 83 is in Tassie, has been since the switch over but WIN is the fully licensed station. TDT9 has no extra channels, just Nine, Nine HD, 9Go and 9Gem.
So odd that they put in 9HD but not 9Life
It must just be about the big solid in-your-face mappy (plus similar blobs on One & 11):
(My emphasis added:)
bril|liant
[ˈbrɪlj(ə)nt]
ADJECTIVE(of light or colour) very bright:
“brilliant sunshine illuminated the scene”
synonyms: bright · shining · blazing · dazzling · light · vivid · intense …
I’d say 9Life wasn’t included in the last round of negotiations between Nine and WIN. All the WIN-owned and part-owned Nine’s are affected. An HD simulcast must have been an option that only SCA took?
On the positive side, WIN can’t then just delete the posts.
I’d like to know this too, and please call to complain, and encourage others to do so (normal people as opposed to just us on MS).
We had 9Life and 9/WINHD before the switch along with the full suite of Ten Channels (except for Spree) on TDT. I don’t think bandwidth is an issue for us missing out on 9Life I think it’s purely just sour grapes from WIN at the loss of the programming.
You guys in Tassie are lucky we don’t even have 9HD here in regional SA, but we have 9GemHD!
