Probably because WIN is far from one of the favourite networks of Media Spy.
In any case, I would personally wait a few months before coming to any major conclusions about the ratings of WIN Television under a Network Ten affiliation (or SCA Nine for that matter).
We have a written agreement with OzTAM to allow metro ratings numbers to be published here under certain detailed restrictions. That does not include regional or national ratings that are copyright and cannot be reproduced.
I’ve only been back in WIN territory for a day so haven’t seen much, but from what I have seen, I’d say WIN HD is not as clear as TEN HD, particularly the unconverted content.
WIN HD now is not as clear as WIN HD was with Nine - even the local ad content that is clearly in HD doesn’t look as good as it used to.
I think it’s fair to give the new affiliations time to allow the dust to settle before making any overall analysis. There’s obviously still a fair bit of confusion in the marketplace and a lot of people trying to adjust to new viewing habits, particularly with the changes to news schedules. Far too soon to call either move as a success or less so.
WIN HD looks clearer than Ten HD to me, at least for native HD content. Here’s a same-frame comparison captured simultaneously off Ten Sydney and WIN Illawarra (hover over image for WIN screenshot).
You can also see the noise from the camera much more clearly on the WIN screenshot. Whilst, arguably, this looks worse, this actually indicates better detail retention, as the noise detail has been smudged away on Ten HD.
I stand corrected - that WIN shot is definitely a lot clearer. Mind you, my comparison technique of small sample size, different TVs, different content isn’t ideal.
Also, what’s the go with there being no watermark on the WIN version?

Here’s an interesting read at a heap of comments I’ve found on the various WIN News facebook pages regarding the affiliation change. Really shows how confused people are about it.
LOL! Hmm… now that I’ve got that out of the way, I see, Interesting indeed. Who would’ve thought this whole changeover would be so difficult to get your head around… and still after a whole week after the event. I wonder if some of these people have even bothered to actually read a TV guide or their EPG to see where their favourite shows are airing now? As I previously said, though WIN and SCA could’ve promoted the affiliation swap more effectively, it’s not like there was no warning at all.

Not seeing many positive comments towards the new WIN…
And you’re surprised? Why? ‘New’ WIN same shit.

If you look closely at the faces (e.g. the beard), WIN clearly has much more detail: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/177821
Well there you go. I stand corrected like the other guys. When just watching WIN-Ten without any screenshot comparison the quality looks inferior, but looking at your screenshots in detail it’s markedly different.
Eleven and One via WIN looks inferior to what it was before with SCA. Could you do a screenshot comparison of them at some stage?

Getting a dirty Ten feed on WIN WA this morning…
Have been receiving a dirty feed on and off all day today (someone must’ve been asleep at the controls, as they didn’t even bother using the coverup most of the time! ) WIN still has issues to iron out.
Yep!
I’ve noticed there are some people too, that are successfully tuning to 5 to watch Nine programs, but then complaining that ACA has replaced the local news, because they’re expecting WIN News to be on LCN 5 now.
Then there’s other people who are still tuning to WIN on 8 and not realising the shows they used to watch there are now on Nine. Much to my amazement, these people do exist! My elderly neighbour is one of them…

OK, I can excuse the likes of your elderly neighbour to an extent, but I’ve seen and talked to people much younger perplexed over the switch. It’s not rocket science!
The Northern Tas newspapers have only just caught up to the fact that we have Nine to include the guides. Yesterday (Friday) was the first time the Nine guide appeared in The Advocate and I’m assuming the same for The Examiner as they’re the same company now. That’s an entire week without the guide for the channnels, which for people who don’t think to look online (and many of them were messed up for days too) it’s harder to look at the guide.
Even before I do the comparison, I can say you’re definitely correct. WIN’s SD channels have always looked horrible since they switched to MediaHub and have horrible oversharpening.

That has been correct as of last Friday.
Have the Examiner or Advocate included the new TDT logo yet?
Nope, they don’t use the logos anymore so just have the word but it has changed from “TDT” to Nine and the LCN’s are correct for that and the multichannels.
