Nine Tennis Coverage

Your coverage quality solely depends if they have a studio? That’s not right, I mean we should be focusing on if live tennis was being shown as clearly it wasn’t on Nine and Seven showed it from first ball.

Nine didn’t have the benefit of the multichannel, I get that but that’s the only credit I give them. Seven’s coverage was so much better it wasn’t even funny, it wasn’t treated as a 2nd thought as Nine did.

Well they did air it for a bloody long time, was it longer than Seven aired the Aus Open? Anyway both definitely go back to the 70s, even before Nine’s Kerry Packer cricket

Yeah, I’m more so talking about the last 10 years of coverage

The final year of coverage didn’t have a set, but still hosted from Wimbledon

The first Wimbledon television coverage in Australia was on the ABC in 1957. Maybe the ABC is its spiritual home. :grinning:

Where’s Tim Sheridan these days? Didn’t he go over to Foxtel?

A long match of the Men’s Final between Djokovic and Tsitsipas. Went to five-sets, with the game finishing at approx 3.15am. Nine did a great job with the French Open this year. A big improvement from previous years over at SBS.

Now, i cannot wait until Wimbledon in a few weeks time.

Wimbledon 2021

Wimbledon, the most prestigious tennis tournament of all, begins Monday, June 28, and will be broadcast live on 9Gem and 9Now.

Every match of Wimbledon 2021 will also stream ad-free, live and on demand, on Stan Sport, bringing subscribers all the action from every court.

After coming off the clay courts of the French Open, the Wimbledon grass awaits the world’s best players, with Roger Federer going for his ninth victory here and Grand Slam title number 21.

Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, after going down in his first Grand Slam final to Novak Djokovic in five sets at the French Open, will be out to go one better.

But the man to beat again is Djokovic, the defending Wimbledon champion who has already won two Grand Slams this year, adding Roland Garros to his Australian Open title.

Serena Williams is set to compete and will be playing for her eighth Wimbledon crown with her last win being in 2016.

Australia’s own world No. 1, Ash Barty will be leading the charge and will be joined by Ajla Tomljanovic and Sam Stosur for the women’s side.

Our Aussie men’s side will see Alex de Minaur , John Millman , Alex Bolt , Alexei Popyrin , Nick Kyrgios , James Duckworth and Jordan Thompson compete for a grand slam title.

Andy Murray and Venus Williams have been awarded the tournament’s wildcard entries.

With more names being confirmed as we approach the start of tournament, stay tuned for all the action on 9Gem with commentators Roz Kelly , Todd Woodbridge , Sam Groth , Jelena Dokic and Brett Phillips .

The broadcast begins at 7.30pm on Monday, June 28, running through to Saturday, July 3. With no play on Sunday, July 4, the action resumes on Monday, July 5, at 7.30pm, right up to the women’s final which will be broadcast live on Saturday, July 10, from 10.30pm, and the men’s final on Sunday, July 11, from 10.30pm.

Watch every match live and free on 9Gem and 9Now.

Good to see extensive coverage this time round. Last time they had the rights it started at 11:30pm with no live coverage in Perth.

I think this has been well documented here now. We’re in 2021 not 2010. Let’s move on and enjoy a new era coverage.
