Nine Tennis Coverage

Nine were to air the matches played on the outdoor courts but with the rain delay, have decided to replay a 2019 match.

Todd Woodbridge mentioned earlier that the matches played on the outdoor courts were scheduled to start earlier than the games on the two indoor courts. Hence the delay in showing any games live.

When does the centre court start? Doesn’t it have a roof now?

It does but play on Centre Court isn’t scheduled to start until 10.30 AEST which is 2.5 hours later than the outdoor courts

Switching to main channel just now at 11:58. Crashed into the game without intro.

Sadly, Nine is using the host broadcaster intro theme. Bland and uninspiring intro imo

I miss the old Wimbledon theme. Just taking the host broadcaster this time round and the BBC theme.

i played the theme in the background when the coverage started, to replicate the old days and get in the mood

Did Woodbridge/Groth etc commentate on any matches or were all matches bbc commentary on 9/gem? (I only saw the Djokovic, and Tsitsipas matches)

I wonder if 9 may try to use Jim Courier at all if he is over there, for some live commentary, or to preview matches like he did for French Open final

US Open rights come up for grabs at the end of the 2021 season. Expect Nine to get back the rights.

Last match they showed was the 2011 Women’s Singles Final between Sam Stosur and Serena.

If so - then Nine will have the complete Grand Slam package!

The home of grand slam tennis. SBS only shows limited coverage from the quarters onwards.

No, but I’m guessing the rain pushing the Millman match had a lot to do with it

Good to see highlights of the previous days play on the pre show. An improvement from when they last had the rights.

Maybe if Nine hadn’t lost all their tennis rights, Stosur wouldn’t have had such a shit decade since! :joy: (Poor attempt at humour)

Highlight of last night- de Minaur and Stosur were playing on next door courts and a wild ball came onto de Minaur’s court…Todd Woodbridge says “where’s that come from” and without missing a beat Sam Growth goes “its come off Sam Stosur’s frame” :grimacing: :joy: :joy:
