Todd Woodbridge and Sam Groth hosting the Davis Cup Finals coverage in the studio. Looks like Nine is taking the world feed.
Food guy??
Australia will play Canada in the Davis Cup quarter-finals after Kyrgios and De Minaur won their singles matches against their Belgian opponents this morning. Not sure at this stage if Nine will show it.
Nine’s coverage today was cut short after Jonn Peers suffered a suspected wrist injury in the opening game of the doubles match, forcing him and Jordan Thompson to withdraw from the match and giving Belgium a 6-0 6-0 walkover.

DAVIS CUP: Australia v Canada
The draw for next year’s Davis Cup Qualifiers were held in Madrid yesterday, just hours before the hosts Spain faced Canada in the final. Australia will host Brazil on March 6 and 7 next year in a revised format: two singles matches on Friday, followed by doubles and reverse singles on Saturday. If Australia win the tie, it will join the other 11 winners of the qualifiers plus this year’s semi-finalists (Spain, Canada, Russia and Great Britain) and 2020 wildcards (France and Serbia) in the 2020 finals in Madrid in November.
All matches will be best-of-three-sets and will be shown on Nine and/or 9Gem.
Where will it be played
It will be interesting how Nine covers the celebration of Margaret Court’s achievement.
The venue for Davis Cup qualifier between Australia and Brazil should be revealed just before Christmas I think.
Do you know whether this will be streamed via 9Now?
Probably yes, we will find out when Nine posts a press release closer to tournament time.
I wonder whether Nine will use their own graphics (like Seven did) or use the world feed graphics like they did last year.
If Nine decide to use their own graphics, I could imagine them being similar to the NRL coverage (much like Seven’s graphics were similar to the AFL).
That’s later than usual, maybe a week? …Nine’s dream run continues. That should take them a week closer to the start of ratings. They’ll have the momentum again in 2020.
