Should be increased interest/anticipation this summer too, not just the new ATP Cup and Adelaide back on board, but Ash Barty now winning a major (French Open champion) and her and Alex de Minaur continuing to do well.

Nine’s tennis exclusivity (vs cricket split between Seven and Foxtel) is also a huge bonus for them.

this Cross Court show has been airing for 2 or 3 weeks now. It airs after “Sports Sunday”, now a vacant slot where the Sunday Footy Shows aired.

Its a good little show from the snippets i have seen, profiling some tennis stars and going “around the grounds”.

The 2019 Fed Cup final between Australia and France will be played at Perth’s RAC Arena next weekend (November 9-10) featuring Ash Barty, who will finish 2019 with the world No.1 ranking. According to RAC Arena website, play will commence at 11am Perth time (2pm AEDT) on both days. Coverage will be on Nine’s main channel.

Ash Barty will steer Australia into a historic battle against France in the 2019 BNP Paribas Fed Cup Final, to be broadcast on Nine on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10.

James Bracey will host our live broadcast from RAC Arena in Perth, with commentary from former Fed Cup representatives Casey Dellacqua and Jelena Dokic, alongside Sam Groth and Todd Woodbridge.

World No.1 Barty will headline an impressive squad featuring Australia’s No.2, Ajla Tomljanovic, fellow Grand Slam champion Sam Stosur, and young guns Astra Sharma and Priscilla Hon.

The Aussies will be competing in the nation’s first appearance in a Fed Cup final in 26 years and will be out to win their first Fed Cup title since 1974.

Barty will spearhead the team in what has been a remarkable 2019 season, crowned by her first Grand Slam title at the French Open, followed up with a title in Birmingham, where she became just the second Australian woman in history to ascend to the world No.1 ranking, and culminating with her WTA Finals victory in Shenzhen last night.

Tomljanovic will debut for Australia after a successful year which has seen her spending most of 2019 inside the Top 50 and hitting a career-high ranking of No.39 in April.

Stosur’s experience will be a huge asset – she holds the record for the most Australian Fed Cup singles wins. She also teamed with Barty to give Australia a thrilling 3-2 victory over Belarus in the Fed Cup semi-finals in Brisbane, improving her flawless Fed Cup doubles record to 8-0. Currently ranked world No.15 in doubles, Stosur has been a consistent doubles force throughout the year, after claiming the Australian Open doubles title in January alongside China’s Zhang Shuai.

Sharma has been one of the breakout stars on the WTA Tour this year. After qualifying for the Australian Open she reached the second round in singles before advancing to the mixed doubles final with John-Patrick Smith. She then notched her first tour-level final in Bogota in April.

Hon, like Sharma, has enjoyed a season of improvement, and currently sits at a career-high world No.118. Five times she has qualified for WTA events in 2019, most recently in Seoul where she won through to the quarter-finals.

Australia holds a 5-1 record over France, although the French team won the most recent tie between the two nations in 2000. Australia owns seven Fed Cup titles to France’s two, yet France is appearing in its second final in four years.

The French squad remains unchanged from the team that sealed the semi-final win against Romania in April. It boasts a lineup of top players, including four in the Top 100: Caroline Garcia, Kristina Mladenovic, Alize Cornet and Fiona Ferro. Pauline Parmentier rounds out the group.

I’m getting confused. LAst time, when nine televised hopman cup, they had Bec Maddern and clint stanaway in Melbourne studios instead of in perth. Will james Bracey present on court in RAC arena?

Nine weather presenter Scherri-Lee Biggs was on court side last summer but she’s not part of the coverage this weekend.

Looks like today’s Fed Cup final telecast will go overtime after Kristina Mladenovic took more than 2.5 hours to beat world No.1 Ash Barty in three sets, giving France 2-1 lead. Australia will need to win the remaining singles match and then the doubles to claim the title.
With Nine committed to The Block finale this evening, the possible fifth rubber and post-match presentation will have to be shown on 9Gem in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to the printed and online guide i have, the Fed Cup is scheduled to appear on 9Gem from 6pm-8pm. So it’s okay, Nine News and The Block Final is safe on Nine.

With the tennis continuing after 6pm, Tennis was switched from 9 to 9Gem for Adelaide viewers.

Tennis moved to 9Gem for viewers on the East Coast. Fans aren’t happy with the channel switch

MAybe it has to do with the News and The block GF prioritising over the Tennis. Tennis was switched From 9 to 9Gem at 6pm (QLD time). In WA, we have the tennis right through to 5PM (Local time). It looks as though it will go overtime in WA, meaning that Perth viewers will switch to 9GEM at 5pm.

What do the fans not have a remote in which they can change the channel?

Gee we are becoming a sad society! It’s still in HD, on free to air and coverage is the same! :man_facepalming:

It has been scheduled for a 6pm switch for a while now (since last week!!!). Viewers spent more time complaining on social media than what it would take to switching over by the remote control?
