BOLT SET FOR PRIMETIME CLASH WITH ZVEREV ON NINE TONIGHT

Three years after walking away from tennis, wild-haired Australian Open wildcard Alex Bolt will step onto Rod Laver Arena for a third-round Saturday night clash against world No.4 Alexander Zverev .

The 26-year-old captured the imagination in a rousing five-set win over former world No.6 Gilles Simon that followed a maiden grand slam victory in round one.

Bolt and fellow wildcard Alex Popyrin , who meets world No.31 Lucas Pouille tonight on Margaret Court Arena, are the two remaining Aussies in the men’s draw after Alex de Minaur fell to Rafael Nadal on Friday night.

Bolt’s centre court appearance is a far cry from working as a labourer and building fences at South Australia’s Murray Bridge in 2016 after falling out of love with tennis.

In other matches, men’s top seed Novak Djokovic faces exciting Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov , while world No.1 Simona Halep plays former Open finalist Venus Williams . Her sister Serena will take on Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska .

ASH BARTY CARRIES THE HOPES OF A NATION ON NINE TODAY

FEDERER FACES TSITSIPAS TONIGHT

Australia’s Ashleigh Barty today plays Maria Sharapova in the biggest match of her career.

The players have contrasting styles and experience, yet the match-up is expected to be one of the most hotly contested duels of the tournament so far.

Nine commentator John McEnroe has described her volley as the best in the game.

If 22 year-old Barty wins today, it will mark a personal grand slam best.
