Nine Tennis Coverage

I’d wondered whether they’d do a charity match for last year’s floods (various), they’ve been good with them over the years including 2011 hosted by Johanna Griggs for Queensland floods and 2020 with Bec Maddern and James Bracey for Nsw/Vic 2019-2020 bushfires. Also unrelated to natural disasters or war, but IIRC 2019 Nine’s first there was Federer and Serena at Hopman in Perth.

Although one tonight for Ukraine, of which there are current or former players, also vocal last year. Which is nice to see.

Will all games be on 9Now/Stan Sport or just the latter?

Today’s (Thursday) Australian Open draw started at 3pm AEDT. A 30-minute highlights show will be shown on 9Gem at around 6.30pm AEDT, in between Adelaide International telecasts.

Late Tennis update for Adelaide viewers:

ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL - TOURNAMENT 2 will be shown on the main channel tonight in Adelaide from 7:30 pm (formerly on 9Go!). Night coverage will start at 6:30pm on 9Go!

Today’s matches include Belinda Bencic (SUI) v Veronika Kudermetova and Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) v Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP), live from Memorial Drive Tennis Club, Adelaide with host Nick McArdle. Live play from 7:00PM AEDT.

It is definitely delayed on TV - the match is being streamed live on Australia Open’s official YouTube channel (world feed commentary).

With delayed coverage everywhere, not sure why Nine couldn’t have still run ACA in Sydney and Melbourne like the other markets.

Agree that A Current Affair should have aired nationally, since this match is delayed anyway in all cities - even in Sydney and Melbourne. Odd with their 7pm start.

This exhibition match went into a third set, and then had the players talking after this match with James Bracey. Coverage finished at 8.30pm. Country House Hunters aired after this match (supposed to start at 8pm, so everything will be pushed back by half an hour). Am sure the movie would have been better at 8.30.

Has been a fun event to watch nonetheless.

Did Nine’s James Bracey go out to the World Feed, appeared so? I guess perks of being the domestic (formerly ‘host’ before TA took over) broadcaster. Wonder how many were watching globally, I’d say there’d have been plenty of interest with these two and also the timing of the anticipated Netflix specials.

Not the first time either. Anyone know if Seven’s talent beamed worldwide when they had charity specials? I recall Johanna Griggs being on-court also emceeing for the 2011 Queensland Floods event, reading out players about to take part like Kim Clijsters (adopted ‘Aussie Kim’).
