With Ash Barty winning her semi-final against Madison Keys tonight, the women’s singles final this Saturday night will be HUGE. It could be the first time the decider gets the magical 2 million (metro viewers) mark.
I reckon it will even outrate the men’s singles final the following night.

The 2005 Men’s Singles final rated 4.05 million on Channel 7 the most watched television program that year and in the past 17 years.

Got to think 9 will push for the mens doubles final to be late arvo 4pm into the news. Over the usual later sat night after Woman’s final.

Doubt it’ll be shifted for RLA ticketing considerations (ie; to ensure ticketholders get to watch two matches rather than paying top dollar for a final which could end in an hour or so).

Has the outdoor studio been in use this afternoon with the storms?
The match schedule for Saturday has just been released. The junior singles finals will be played in the afternoon, while the men’s doubles final will remain in its usual timeslot, after women’s singles final presentations.
This means the studio interview with the champion (either Barty or Collins) will have to be kept short so TV viewers won’t miss the start of the doubles match.

Or could be pre-recorded? Or could be shown in a picture in picture/splitscreen, at least for the start of the match.
Or they’ll just miss this start of the doubles, or would be incredibly disrespectful to cut an interview short when traditionally broadcasters don’t really care for doubles.

Given it’s an Australian only final and it’s also doubles (meaning the care factor from other broadcasters worldwide is going to be minimal), 9 would probably be able to force a delay the start of the doubles until they have finished reflecting on the singles.

Looked to me like she was typing on her laptop and then looked up to the monitor where she was expecting to see the match being played.
