The craft editors for metro news don’t use premier pro and haven’t ever used it to any large capacity at Nine. Possibly ACA, promos, and 60 Minutes use it. Not news.

how do you know they didn’t do “as much as possible”? They suffered a major outage, the fact that any news got to air at all is an achievement.
I think in the circumstances they can be excused for providing 30 seconds less news content than you expected

I’m not critising Nine I’m just saying I’d prefer it shorter than a longer one. I understand it was unusual circumstances.

You do realize they were using a ‘stop watch’ to time out the bulletin last night. Hence why we saw a longer closer than usual.
Using a method that they probably haven’t practiced for years, so are highly unlikely to get it right the first time.
Producers hate seeing closers, they avoid it at all costs, but that’s what they’re for - to time out the bulletin when it runs short.

I would have thought Nine News would be using a more heavy-duty system like Grass Valley Stratus/Edius to edit & play back video, considering the amount of video that needs to be shuttled between the individual stations.
Nope, they use AVID not premiere.

Judging by the success of Today this morning I don’t see why they couldn’t do a 6pm bulletin from 1D tonight. The main limitation will be the number of stories they can get together so it won’t be quite as local as usual perhaps.

“ORIGIN OF THE MAJOR BREACH UNDER INVESTIGATION” - That is a very poorly worded lower-third under the circumstances.
Are they saying that the major breach is still being investigated? Or was it caused by Under Investigation?
