If the result of the cyber attack is that Today now permanently have a shorter opener, I’m happy to take responsibility.
On 4KQ this morning their IT person (ARN) was interviewed. He said that every 3 to 6 months they sent out a bogus email with attachment to everyone in the company as a test and that about 20% of people opened the email despite all the training they are given.

While you never want to see a network being significantly hampered by a cyberattack (reportedly), it’s just fortunate that it’s happened during a period where hosts/reporters/staff can fly to Melbourne without worrying about Coronavirus cases/border closures

Nine’s Morning News had a bit of an interesting look of the behind the scenes at the GTV-9 studio during the closer.
No I haven’t actually. I have heard of it, but I haven’t looked into it before.
Also while there’s certainly never a convenient time for a cyberattack to take place, things would’ve been a lot worse from an on-air perspective had it happened one week earlier when people would’ve been relying on Nine for flood coverage!

There are other possible ways to get in, such as recent security vulnerabilities with Exchange Server (if they had Outlook Web App exposed to the Internet, which most do), or SolarWinds Orion.
Especially if Nine didn’t immediately deploy security updates.
On 7News not reporting Nine’s troubles…
Seven could have just reported the news without kicking Nine while they’re down?
