The first crack of Stan’s current rugby union broadcast deal?
Well not available but I’d suspect - if it’s an employment dispute - he would have grounds to believe his contract would be renewed and now it isn’t.
Stan’s exclusive coverage of the revamped SVNS series begins in Dubai this weekend.
However, there have been some complaints on social media that a couple of Australian matches had been skipped, as there are matches happening on two adjacent fields.

Stan will exclusively stream the inaugural Perth SVNS tournament, starting this afternoon at HBF Park and running until Sunday. It is the only Australian leg of the 2023/24 SVNS World Series.
It’s a big long weekend for Stan Sport with the Australian Open tennis finals as well.

No doubt Nine will want the RWC 2025 and 2027 with 2027 being a home RWC. 7 and Fox aired the 2003 RWC

The Wallabies documentary premieres on Stan on February 22 with all episodes dropped at once. It covers last year’s events from the day Eddie Jones returned as coach to the Rugby World Cup in France.

Buzz Rothfield reporting today that Rugby Australia plans to play their home Bledisloe Cup test on 21 September at 3pm.
That would probably lead in relatively nicely for Nine into a NRL playoff game that night

Interesting, I didn’t realise that I could have scooped Buzz - I got two emails on Friday about the Bledesloe Cup games, one of which gave a pretty good indicator it was going to be in the afternoon.
FWIW - I don’t like it.

I can see why they would do it rather than go head to head with an NRL playoff, but I reckon a Thursday night like in 2022 in Melbourne would have been good.
Traditionally the Aus/NZ games part of the Rugby Championship were played first to avoid the NRL playoffs but this has now changed.

Just a reminder that the round 1 match between the Queensland Reda and NSW Waratahs is on this Saturday. On the channels of Nine (Syd, Bris) and 9Gem (Mel, Ade, Per).

Super Rugby Women (formerly Super W) started its 2024 season last night, with Western Force beating Melbourne Rebels 36-12 in Perth.
Fijian Drua are chasing a historic three-peat this year, having won the title in 2022 and 2023.
Every Super Rugby Women match will be streamed live on Stan, with one match per week also shown live on 9Gem nationally. This week the FTA match is Waratahs v Brumbies at 5pm AEDT today.
