I assume 9 will just show the ‘home team’ broadcast

Is this the first time Channel Nine has ever shown NHL?

It’s similar to how 9 showed the MLB preseason game that was played here a few years ago.

Those were regular season games and the first two games of the 2014 season

Wish we had more American sports play exhibition games here.
I know NFL did when ACCOR STADIUM first opened and the MLB of course.
Would like to see an exhibition NBA game here 1 day.

Given the relationship that the NBL have had with the NBA for a number of years now, you would think it would be only a matter of time before a pre-season NBA game would be brought here against an NBL team.

The distance and travel time make it difficult - but the time difference would make it work (a mid-morning/lunchtime game here would be in decent evening timeslots in the US)

ESPN also has both games

Commentary started at 2:17pm. LArge segments of coverage (half time) have no commentary.

Did anyone else witness the sudden abrupt commercial break after the 3rd L.A Knights goal?

Plus why isn’t there a “LIVE” watermark on screen?

Very “Entertaining” coverage channel Nine

And also staying on 1 camera shot for 5 minutes as per end of 2nd period.

They appear to be using a modified version of the Sportsnet NHL graphics, but with generic NHL Global Series branding. As far as I have read, the commentary team is the Los Angeles Kings team of Nick Nickson and Jim Fox.

Why would there be? Nine haven’t used a “live” watermark on WWOS branded broadcasts since the mid 2010s

It annoys me when networks pick & choose to use the “LIVE” bug.
Either make it mandatory or ditch it altogether.

Commentators just mentioned seeing different NHL jerseys around Rod Laver Arena.
Now I’m confused. Are they commentating from the Arena or back in the States?
It is possible for them to call Live off the tube from the U.S nowadays.

Is it really that big of an issue? As long as they aren’t being misleading, they should be free to brand as they like. And I’m sure that ACMA have better things to be doing than enforcing “Live” watermarks.

There are images on Jim Fox’s Instagram from the arena and from the AFL last night, so it is safe to say they are in Melbourne.
