Nine Sports Broadcasting

Anyone want to guess what the ratings will be for nine after tonight’s SOO game coming down to the last minute and the cricket being a classic on GEM? The southern states might be glued to the cricket while Northern ones breaking the edge of the seats?

The ratings will be … in the words of Darrell Eastlake… HUUUUGGGEEEE!!!

With the game becoming very close towards the end and with that try in the last 20 seconds or so leading to a Blues win, surely there would’ve been over a million viewers (or at the very least, close to it) in Sydney alone?!

I’ll stick my neck out and say 2.4 mil across the 5 city metros.

To win it’s time slot in every city ala Game 1.

Netball World Cup

FRIDAY 12 JULY – SUNDAY 21 JULY

Netball’s premier international tournament, the Vitality Netball World Cup, begins tonight, live and exclusive from England at 7.30pm on 9Gem, 9Go! and 9Now.

The 2019 World Cup promises to be the hottest contest to date, with any of five strong teams in contention for the title: Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa and Jamaica.

Joining these teams in the 16-nation tournament are Malawi, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Fiji, Samoa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Caitlin Bassett will lead Australia in the tournament at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, as the Diamonds aim for four World Cup titles in a row.
Australia will meet Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in their first three games this weekend, hoping for a winning treble to set them up for perfectly for the next three rounds.

Former Australian World Cup champions Liz Ellis and Cath Cox will lead Nine’s Netball World Cup coverage in commentary.

Liz Ellis, who captained the Diamonds to win the World Cup in 2007, said: “I think the top five teams in this World Cup are very evenly matched, although Australia are ranked the favourites. While this weekend’s triple-header pits the Diamonds against three of the outsiders, the World Cup can produce surprise results and Australia will need to stay sharp.”

Nine’s Wide World of Sports will broadcast every Australian Diamonds game, commencing at 7.30pm tonight, Friday, July 12. All other games throughout the tournament will be available on 9Now.

From your screenshots, wasn’t this shown on 9Go in your place?

Is the netball being hosted from TCN9? What happens on Sunday late night when Nine is showing Cricket World Cup final and the netball at the same time?

TCN does have multiple studios. Could they use two studios?

What I’d imagine we’ll most likely see happen…

Studio 22 (that is the main one at TCN for Nine Sports Coverage, right?): Cricket.
Studio 23 or 24: Netball.

Nine is taking Sky Sports UK commentary like the women’s Ashes series.

I think the cricket coverage is being done from the studio at GTV9 where the Sunday Footy Show is filmed.

No, that is just the World Feed for the World Cup which has happened in the previous NWC’s

Australia finished on top of its group after stage one of Netball World Cup in Liverpool, and will face arch-rival New Zealand as well as Malawi and Barbados in Group F in stage two.
The Diamonds’ Group F schedule is:
Monday July 15: Australia v Barbados, 11am British summer time (8pm AEST)
Tuesday July 16: Australia v Malawi, 5pm BST (2am AEST July 17)
Thursday July 18: Australia v New Zealand, 10.30am BST (7.30pm AEST)
Nine Network will show the Diamonds’ matches live while all games are streamed on 9Now.
Thursday’s game against the Silver Ferns is contentious as it is also up against Nine’s coverage of NRL and the first day of Women’s Ashes test.

It will be interesting what Nine does on Thursday in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. This  is obviously Sydney.

Edit: Actually, looking again at this tweet, because Nine specifically state the Thursday game is on 9Go and 9Now, i’d guess that it is not on free-to-air in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, (which is what the guides are currently showing).

According to online guides, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth has the repeat of the original RoboCop movie scheduled right after live NRL. Maybe Nine could consider a delayed telecast of the netball match?

Blockquote

I appreciate Nine are in a scheduling pickle. However, Australia v NZ should be shown on TV nationwide considering it’ll be one of the ‘marquee’ matches of the Netball World Cup

Worse case scenario, they could always show the Netball on Life - complimenting their other female skewing content.
