Nine Sports Broadcasting

I’m positive he did other sport stuff for Nine years ago, swimming and London Olympics for starters?

Stanaway based in Melbourne
Bridges I believe is based in Newcastle
Moore is based in Brisbane.
So fair chance all three travelled.

As a play by play caller. Not really a host or presenter.

Commentary, sure but he is rarely seen on screen.

Yes, Ray Warren was taken off camera years ago.

He really does have a face for radio.

I remember him hosting and calling The Amco Cup, but can’t really recall any hosting role since.

Yes, 30 years ago he looked alright… but now… he looks to have suffered significant sun damage to his skin.

2017 RALLY AUSTRALIA

THE finale of the FIA World Rally Championship this weekend on Nine will have the best drivers in the world flying through the forests of Coffs Harbour in the Kennards Hire Rally Australia.

The final WRC round for 2017 will be staged across the Coffs Coast in New South Wales from Friday to Sunday, with Nine’s Wide World of Sports hosting a 90-minute program live from the final forest stage at 1.00pm on Sunday, plus daily highlights and preview and review programs.

While the 2017 WRC Champion has been crowned, with Frenchman Sebastien Ogier claiming the title, the race is still on for second and third in the championship, as well as a Rally Australia win in one of the toughest events on the calendar. It presents a testing mix of challenges in both fast and technical stages, from forests and gravel roads to the open countryside.

Molly Taylor, the reigning Australian Rally Champion and number one female rally driver in the world, will take on the cream of competition. Can she outfox her rivals on her home turf? One thing is certain: this weekend’s finale of the FIA World Rally Championship will take viewers on one hell of a ride on Nine.

THE MASTERS RETURNS TO NINE

The Nine Network’s Wide World of Sports has secured the free television and streaming rights for the world’s most prestigious golf championship - the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club - in an agreement announced today.

The new partnership – beginning at this year’s Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club from April 5-8 – will see all four days of competition screened LIVE and FREE on the Nine Network. FOX SPORTS, who is the STV broadcaster, will also screen the Tournament.

Wide World of Sports will also provide three additional live video channels screening anytime, anywhere on 9Now: Featured Groups, Amen Corner, and Holes 15 and 16.

Nine’s Director of Sport, Tom Malone, says: "We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Augusta National Golf Club to once again broadcast the Masters on Wide World of Sports in Australia.

“The Masters is the most premium golfing event on the sporting calendar, which aligns perfectly with Nine’s sporting rights and corporate strategy.

“While the Masters is no longer on the anti-siphoning list, our partnership with Augusta National to make free-to-air coverage available to viewers illustrates our shared goal of bringing the Masters to all Australians.”

On the main Nine channel or on 9Gem? In years gone by coverage clashed with Today which was dropped.

Good purchase for Nine. You’d think Fox Sports would’ve been all over these recently removed anti-siphoned events.

They are all over this, the Nine blurb states: “FOX SPORTS, who is the STV broadcaster, will also screen the Tournament.”

I meant exclusively. Fox Sports can now buy these events to broadcast exclusively without FTA.

The second the Masters was removed from the anti-siphoning list, Fox Sports should’ve been on the phone with Augusta doing an exclusivity deal.

Foxtel has rights too with Fox Sports and Fox Now.

This event has been missing from FTA for some time, hasn’t it?

I remember Ten used to broadcast it years ago, with Tim Webster / Brad McEwan hosting.

I believe it’s during the morning (early) our time from memory. I try and watch a few holes.

Last couple of years it has been on Seven.

7 have had it since 2014. It was on ten for 6 years before that and nine before that again

Not surprised Nine has regained the rights to the US Masters. Seven is in costcutting mode so it is not renewing the rights. Besides, this year’s tournament clashes with the Commonwealth Games anyway.
