Nine Sports Broadcasting

Australia finished on top of its group after stage one of Netball World Cup in Liverpool, and will face arch-rival New Zealand as well as Malawi and Barbados in Group F in stage two.
The Diamonds’ Group F schedule is:
Monday July 15: Australia v Barbados, 11am British summer time (8pm AEST)
Tuesday July 16: Australia v Malawi, 5pm BST (2am AEST July 17)
Thursday July 18: Australia v New Zealand, 10.30am BST (7.30pm AEST)
Nine Network will show the Diamonds’ matches live while all games are streamed on 9Now.
Thursday’s game against the Silver Ferns is contentious as it is also up against Nine’s coverage of NRL and the first day of Women’s Ashes test.

It will be interesting what Nine does on Thursday in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. This  is obviously Sydney.

Edit: Actually, looking again at this tweet, because Nine specifically state the Thursday game is on 9Go and 9Now, i’d guess that it is not on free-to-air in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, (which is what the guides are currently showing).

According to online guides, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth has the repeat of the original RoboCop movie scheduled right after live NRL. Maybe Nine could consider a delayed telecast of the netball match?

I appreciate Nine are in a scheduling pickle. However, Australia v NZ should be shown on TV nationwide considering it’ll be one of the ‘marquee’ matches of the Netball World Cup

Worse case scenario, they could always show the Netball on Life - complimenting their other female skewing content.

First time that a sport is telecasted on 9Life. Yikes!
In Regional WA And Mildura, they don’t have 9Life.

The Mt Gambier/Riverland regions of SA + any viewers in Victoria, Tasmania or South Australia relying on Imparja won’t see the netball match either.

It’s not ideal that Nine has to use 9Life to show live sport. It may happen again if Nine acquires the rights to the two-game basketball exhibition series between Australia Boomers and USA at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium next month. Game 1 is on Thursday, August 22 at 7pm AEST, up against the opening day of the third Ashes cricket test in Leeds (play starts at 8pm AEST), and the NRL match between the Eels and the Bulldogs (7.50pm AEST kick off).

Sure but at least common sense has prevailed

Worst case scenario is that there will be three sports happening during the same time on the channels of Nine. For northern states, it will be likely that NRL stays on 9HD with the Ashes Test Series on 9GEM. Basketball may be shown on 9Go nationally. [9Go used to televise sport like basketball from last year]. For southern states, it may be possible that Nine will screen The Ashes on primary channel in HD with Eels v Bulldogs on 9GEM in HD. For Perth viewers, this would mean that they might need to push news to 5pm followed by the cricket at 5:30pm (Perth time).

Imparja uses Brisbane feeds for their North feed (QLD/NT) and Sydney for South (NSW/VIC/SA/TAS), so all Imparja viewers will get NRL on Imparja, cricket on Gem, and Netball on Go.

I would have liked to seen nine have some balls tonight and place the Netball or the cricket on the main channel.

It’s a Thursday night, during school holidays, up against not much on the channels.

Surly tonight would have been a good time to see where netball or women’s cricket does rate and promote women’s sports in prime time.

Do something outside the square, and really how many people are rushing home to watch RBT?

I believe they missed a massive chance to do something different.

Not School holidays in Victoria

Aside from the fact there’d have to be very exceptional circumstances for the NRL to be demoted to 9Gem in NSW/Queensland, I thought the kids here are back at school this week…
