Nine (Southern Cross)

@Moe is right.

Back in 2007-2009, ACMA determined that Macquarie Media Group was required to divest their control of TDT and DDT so they sold 35.1% of TDT to WIN and 50% of DDT to Prime until the finalisation of legal action that found that MMG were able to control both licences, and the sales were then unwound. MMG also temporarily bought Prime’s 50% of MDT. Ownership and control changes of the licences has already occurred.

Thanks for that - I had a recollection of that, but couldn’t find any articles about it - my memory failing me on when it happened, and seemingly, even what SCA were called at the time it happened.

Thst sign is not going to age well at all, it already looks terrible. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was IKEA.

The FIRST thing I thought of when I saw that blue/yellow sign was THIS car…

Yep that’s spot on. Looks good before the switch happened the SC station in Orange had SCA logo with Ten Eleven and One stickers on Windows. Not sure if it’s changed.

When I first saw that, I swore I was looking at old 80s Nine signage!

Yeah, it looks pretty odd. But it is brand new. It’s only been there for about 2 or 3 weeks!

I think because it is yellow which makes it look very 80s, the Nine brand is very dominant in regional areas now… Sorry Bruce

What other colour would work on a blue building?

Um, white?

I think it’s also just the materials used, looks cheap with no backlighting or thought gone into it really.

It’s just a coloured sign like all the others on the same building. None have backlighting - that adds significant cost.

I know it’s shocking when TV stations don’t do any elaborate outside signage. This little TV station had to make do with this for 50 years:

Here’s some photos of that old sign being taken down and the new/current one being put up 6 years ago.

Bloody hell. They probably tossed the old one in the hopper too!
