With some of the LCNs now confirmed, it would have been good if WIN were a bit easier to deal with.
Because, both SCA and WIN obviously don’t care too much about their multi-channels (compared to their main channels), and the content of the multi-channels as well as names won’t be changing much, if at all.
So it would have been good to see SCA and WIN joining forces to have in-program graphics appearing on the screen like for example:
On 82 on 9GEM, “This channel is moving! From July 1 you can find GEM on Channel 52”.
On 50 on ONE, “This channel is moving! From July 1 you can find ONE on Channel 8x”.
Etc.
At the moment, viewers seeing these promos for the changeover are probably aware that WIN and SC10 (NINE) are making changes, but most of them likely don’t realise the change also affects the multi-channels.
Do SC have the ability to do pop ups? Perhaps TEN can push through some - put some pop ups during MasterChef in the last week of June to the effect that it can be seen on LCN 8/80 the following week “for our regional viewers”.
I don’t see why WIN or SCA should be promoting channels that they are losing…
If viewers are paying enough attention, I’m sure that they will realise that the channels are just swapping over, they are not losing anything (albeit short term loss of HD and Life).
I agree. No other business would be promoting another company’s products after the loss of a contract. For example, I work in IT, if we lose a managed contract to another provider, I just go about things business as usual until the end of the contract and then it’s up to the new providers to come in and make any changes they want. We provide any information we need to but we certainly don’t go around talking up the other company or anything.
Or another example, if a product becomes exclusive for Coles are Woolies going to put up signs saying you can now find it up the road at Coles? They’d just let it die a quiet death and hope nobody notices or buys the alternative Woolies one.
Okay then, I have been wondering when SC10 & WIN will swap over, if it would take place early in the morning or at Midnight, makes sense it’s happening at exactly Midnight because that’s officially the end of June, when the current affiliation deal ends.
Thank you for picking up the Northern NSW error – I’m getting it fixed.
Secondly, in answer to your question about SCA Ten getting HD in Northern NSW. Yes we will be installing HD In northern NSW but it will take us a little longer – it will probably be more like September. Again we have to order equipment, get it installed tested etc.
The guide on the SCA website only shows SC Ten (in the relevant markets) and has nothing at all after Midnight July 1 for the entire rest of that week.
