Speaking of 2GB, this from Alan Jones this morning:
Can’t wait for another well-deserved slap on the wrist by Australia’s gutless media watchdog.

If you ask me, Alan Jones needs to retire from radio.
Wasn’t he close to getting beaten by an FM program a few times last year?
That’s interesting. Peter Hitchener has been giving previews of Nine News on Denis Walter’s program at around 3.30pm weekdays. Jennifer Keyte from Seven also appears on his show on Tuesday lunchtime. So Denis wants to have good relationships with all three commercial networks.
I would say, perhaps more accurately, that these networks simply have paid spots within the Afternoons program…
Andrew Bolt doing all 4 hours solo tonight. Might be a sign of things to come…?
6.30am and 7am 2GB News this morning:
“William Tyrell’s grandmother had admitted that the 3 year old was probably murdered…”
I doubt very much that the grandmother “admitted” anything. To admit infers that someone is confessing.
She probably acknowledged or “now thinks” that the worst has happened.
2GB news has been poorly written for over a decade (how Alan Jones does not pick up on this I have no idea). It is just a pity that this news service now clutters the 954 frequency as well.
Dead set - they need to hire an English teacher to proof-read their bulletins.

An admission usually comes when one is also 100% sure of something happening - an “admission” of a “probability” makes no sense.
And in the 7am that was exactly what was said. She admitted that something had probably happened. I wrote it down.
In Sydney there are two things I miss every day. Milkshakes in metal cups and 2UE’s new service.
News Editor Erin Maher seems to be covering for Natalie Peters and she really should know to do better as she has been around the traps for a long time, previously at 2UE I think. Not that I am anticipating much, no doubt a downgrading but the sooner we know what is going to happen at 2UE the better.
Far cry from the 3AW doyens David Armstrong & Tony Tardio in Melbourne (both pushing 50 & 60 years old respectively too).
Ah… Those voices
No, he should just be forcibly relocated to 2SM for protection from having listeners.
Surprise, Surprise Macquarie Media has posted a 9% fall in half year revenue. Chairman has expressed his disappointment that the figures were lower than anticipated but said he was confident of achieving a full year earnings (EBITDA) guidance in the range of $20-$25 million. Claiming that their Sales Force has undergone a massive change in both personnel and approach to the market and now starting to see the benefit. Like their Newsroom is Sales also staffed by school students on work experience…ROFL!!!
If 2SM had an owner who actually knew how to run a talk station in a major metropolitan market (or indeed a radio network as a whole) properly and went heavily on localism and Sydney-specific content which would only be broadcast in Sydney, I think they could become a serious competitor and possibly outrate the MRN stations.
Of course that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon but I can dream, right?
Sometimes I wonder if Macquarie has an owner that knows how to run a talk station or is it just their announcing staff that pull it all together and some of them are due for retirement. Does 4BC actually have any paying advertisers or is it all just freebie stuff as they sure don’t have many listeners.
Who’s operating 2GB’s twitter account(s)?..
They’re pretty ordinary I’ve noticed, only a few pointless tweets per day.
3AW’s on the other hand have lots of tweets throughout the day (from around 7am to late night). Including across the weekends. Obviously they have their own social media team/staff? It recently reached 100k+ followers.
Some programs (Ross & John, Sports Today & Nightline) also have their own twitter accounts. Also Ross Greenwood’s Money News has one too (via Sydney).
Interesting to note that middawn personality, Luke Bona has been foreshadowing that the two men from Melbourne (mental block on their names!) would be filling in when he goes on a sponsored cruise in the next few weeks.
That now has changed and he is foreshadowing Tony Moclair will cover his show.
Why the change in fill in staff after talking about his fill ins for weeks?
Because the new format 2UE launches in March? Probably no longer part of the News Talk network.
3AW promoting on-air, a change to weekend mornings line-up.
Buy, Swap & Sell now only 1 hour on Saturday and Sunday.
With The Big Backyard now earlier 7am to 9am.
Anyone know why/what’s happening?
Either the home/street show is being extended (back to the old) or A Movable Feast is being extended?
Or maybe they’re also being pushed forward with another new or national show 11am-Midday?
Interesting that the new Larry Emdur Show will be heard on 2GB and affiliates when we were led to believe that these type of programmes would be heard on 2UE in Sydney. One has to question if they have any idea what the other hand is doing.
