It will be a nice break, Ross and Russ have become a bit irritating in recent times.
Jimmy and Mark are more relaxing to listen to.

Celebrating 45 years of Graham Ross on 2GB

Easter weekend marked 45 years of Graham Ross and The Garden Clinic on 2GB. The radio show is a family affair. Graham’s wife Sandra and daughter Linda are regular contributors and fill-in hosts with son Kent starting off as a 2GB panel operator before shifting to work for the business behind the scenes. The Garden Clinic Executive producer Lesley Thomson has also almost clocked up 20 years and** Gary King, Bob Roger** s’ producer for 18 years, is the regular panel operator.

He’s filling in for Clinton Maynard today

And Ugly Phil is filling in for John Stanley.

Yes indeed. I am very impressed by the 2GB fill in roster atm. Some really good talent inhouse and keeping the big chairs warm …
Breakfast: John Stanley (indefatigable / master of all)
Mornings : Luke Grant (quirky and i like his style)
Afternoons: Bill Woods (great pro to have floating)
Drive : Luke Bona (sounds as good as ever back at GB)
Evenings : Phil O’Neil (has taken to talk radio superbly. I am amazed how good Phil is sounding on 2GB)

Also nice to hear more of Mike Jeffreys covering overnights this week while P O’N is on Evenings.

Well that will be interesting to see how 4BC handles that, as the Sydney edition of Australia Overnight which 4BC takes will, as usual, take the Sydney dawn service from 4:10am. Presumably 4BC will go local after the 4am news. I certainly hope they don’t plan to just crash out of the Sydney feed at 4:25am in the middle of a dawn service.

Studio 1 at 3AW has been updated

At the end of 3AW drive this afternoon, Jacqui Felgate said she would be off air on Thursday and Friday and return next Monday. The reason is that she would be moving house this week, she had booked the leave months in advance before the federal election was called.

Heidi Murphy will fill in for Jacqui for the next two days.

I wish Jacqui would just leave already. She barely ever does a full week.

I thought 3AW no longer broadcasts Saturday night AFL games?

They have both Saturday night NRL games listed (probably couldn’t get out of the late game even if they wanted to given it’s Magic Round) and an earlier-than-usual CCT end time of 9:45pm, so presumably they’re going to the election then, but I can’t find any information about who might be on this coverage, assuming it exists.

In previous years they’ve usually opted out of the 7:30 game in favour of election coverage.

The requirement is to broadcast two games each Saturday and usually that would be the afternoon and twilight game.

However, with the federal election this week, it seems they’d like to do a preview show mid-afternoon whilst the polls are still open, which would clash with the twilight game, not to mention Collingwood v Geelong is a blockbuster game being two of the best performing sides.

Might also be to take advantage of the fact that ABC won’t be carrying the blockbuster game on analogue radio due to it’s own election coverage, so might pick up some of the usual ABC audience who don’t listen to 3AW for AFL.
