Nine Radio (Talk)

Haha. They’re still off currently. Maintenance running over the allocated window isn’t unusual but hopefully whatever is going doesn’t run all the way to 2pm lol

All back on at 2:24am. 2GB immediately returned with audio. 2KY and SEN had carrier but no audio for about another minute before audio returned.

Nine Radio News also need to stop simply referring to, “told Mark Levy”, etc. in their news reports. It doesn’t make sense - not only when networking interstate, but also when airing on other stations taking the hourly news (like 2UE). They should really say, “told 2GB’s Mark Levy”. The same way on 9News, if using an audio grab, it is clear as to which radio station the audio is from.

They used to do the same in the 2UE days. “Mr Doe told John Laws….” No reference to 2UE at all.

How many more episodes of Paul Burt will be heard on Nine radio or are they happy ignoring such unacceptable commentary in any decade and taking the advertising revenue (as paltry as it is at 6am on a weekend)?

Today, Burt will host an OB/crosses for a community boat club on North Stradbroke Island. They won’t be happy to be associated with this.

A pleasant surprise to hear Mike Jeffries hosting overnights on 2GB/4BC this morning.Told listners he was filling in for Pat Panetta while he was on leave.

The only pleasant thing about it was it lulled me to sleep in record time

Comments like yours are everything that is wrong with males in media.

If someone said this in front of you would you call them out on it? If you were in any way shape or form involved in this show from concept to going to air- would you let this slip?

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept. Do better.

I think they’re replying to an earlier post but it might help to know which one

A now deleted post.

Yes the post I replied to has now been deleted. It was someone called Tv head saying that everyone is going to meltdown over every little thing -

How is a male saying on Step outside with Paul Burt - "Beat the egg like you beat the missus … that’s what I do. Tie her to a tree and beat her with fencing wire.” A little thing?

About that Paul Burt TV show: absolutely not.

I’d be wrapping that shoot immediately and walking the “talent” off the set. Beyond unacceptable.

It’s dinosaur behaviour. No place in 1980, 1990, 2000, let alone 2025. No decade is that acceptable.

Why haven’t Nine Radio addressed this? He’s on their network too? Tom and Greg off playing golf early on Friday or having a lunch?

Nine Radio need to take action too. For a company that’s had multiple workplace culture investigations and purged staff for much less, onus is on them this coming week.

Burt has made it worse for himself with an ill considered apology, he’s taken ownership of the fact the abhorrent comments were retained in the broadcast edit.

Clients of him should be asking questions why he has no motivation to check his own product, why would they want him as an ambassador of their product if he doesn’t pick up major problems in his own program?

Wait when did this happen?

If you’re referring to the comments, they were made by a guest in an episode of Paul Burt’s fishing show last month

They weren’t Paul’s comments. He didn’t say them. A guest on the show did.

Who was the guest then?
