I agree with that. John Stanley is a great broadcaster. He could work in Melbourne at night. It’d be better they take that, and invest in a better weekend morning show on aw where there’s more revenue.
I’m talking 9-12 Saturdays and 9-10 Sundays.
Darren James is an institution of Melbourne radio. There’s no need to move him on. His interview with a guest on Sundays 9am and then the Sunday Morning program with Heidi and Nick are both great radio.
Is Darren & the 3AW Weekend Mornings format a bit messy? Does Darren change from 133 693 to 131 873 just for Life & Technology and then change back to 133 693 afterwards?
You have to be joking, this man completely ruins the Life & Technology Show with his meaningless comments. Does he not know when to shut up?, he has no idea what he is talking about. I no longer listen preferring the Sunday segment with Luke Grant. Time he went on a long holiday!
Maybe I should bring up again Alan Pearsall with his listeners sending cheerios to one another and a little prayer here and there but I guess that is well in the past now.
Gruen is filmed in the late afternoon so I doubt he would need to take time off for it. I don’t think he has done that in the past he just flies in from Melbourne in the early afternoon or morning, does the show and flies back.
He’s presented from the Sydney studio (2GB) previously.
I wouldn’t be surprised if 3AW are warming the chair for Mark Allen who is fast becoming a favourite of the station and appearing on numerous programs throughout the week.
Unfortunately there are more pressing programs they need to deal with: Drive and Mornings!
David Schwarz (Mark Allen’s long time on-air partner) returned to SEN earlier this year in a football commentary role.
Mark Allen doesn’t show any signs of returning to SEN so this doesn’t surprise me. He seems very comfortable with the amount of air time he is getting on 3AW.
However, I have heard David Schwarz maintain some regular segments with Tom Elliot on 3AW despite now doing football commentary on SEN.
According to The Australian’s Media Diary, 3AW station manager Stephen Beers sent around a message to staff last week, informing them that all radio hosts must make an effort with their appearance, because the studio cameras and lighting are getting a refurbishment for live video streaming.
RE: 2GB overnight. Mike was on, not much was mentioned on the change in his job. Its kinda of funny he said he is feeling great but now he has to figure out what he will do the rest of the week. Maybe a pirate? . Unless I misheard him.
Certainly does not “feel” like it was his idea (other than what I see on this thread). Maybe it’s his dark humour (which makes him a good presenter).
A lot of talk stations (and music stations) use those camera set ups for social clips - but in the case of the talk radio setup they certainly work well for TV stations utilising them as well rather than the only way of audio and a logo of the station or a still of the guest.
