Nine Radio (Talk)

They could although unlikely pope Raymond Hadley to Melbourne at least he can interview people as I have said before 2GB isn’t there as a mouthpiece for the Liberals and as thus if they intend on having Dutton on every week he should have someone from Labor as well. If I was Tom Malone I would not allow him to have Dutton on every week without fail without a member of the Labor party on every week as well.

If they piped in the Sydney show, I can assure you that a large potion of 3AW’s audience (both overall and especially in mornings) will switch straight to ABC.

I would say most unlikely as Hadley has said on many occasions that he has absolutely no interest in Melbourne matters. He definately should be heard in Brisbane and I feel certain this will happen again sooner rather than later,

They’ve tried to do Sydney style talk in Melbourne over past 20 years with MTR and Macquarie Sports Radio. Didn’t work. Like different countries in talk radio style. Works for lifestyle/health/financial talkback formats, that’s about it.

Yes, alarmist radio does not work in Melbourne. Hadley is nothing short of being a chest beater, an ambulance chaser and grenade thrower. Having said that, people seem to love it. When you have a host that comes across like that, it attracts the raving lunatic fringe to call in and contribute via talkback. In evenings John has a more stable minded audience overall.
Melbourne talkback radio throughout the daylight hours allows for a more balanced combination. After dark you tend to get a breed of boring loney souls, imagine getting stuck next to one of them on a bus or train! However Denis does’nt give them the exposure Simon and Phil used to.

I agree with that. John Stanley is a great broadcaster. He could work in Melbourne at night. It’d be better they take that, and invest in a better weekend morning show on aw where there’s more revenue.
I’m talking 9-12 Saturdays and 9-10 Sundays.

The current 3AW weekend morning show and it’s host is getting very tired, it could with a revamp, Darren James has done it since 1994, so 30 years.

Darren James is an institution of Melbourne radio. There’s no need to move him on. His interview with a guest on Sundays 9am and then the Sunday Morning program with Heidi and Nick are both great radio.

Is Darren & the 3AW Weekend Mornings format a bit messy? Does Darren change from 133 693 to 131 873 just for Life & Technology and then change back to 133 693 afterwards?

You have to be joking, this man completely ruins the Life & Technology Show with his meaningless comments. Does he not know when to shut up?, he has no idea what he is talking about. I no longer listen preferring the Sunday segment with Luke Grant. Time he went on a long holiday!

You said that 6,000,000th Time on here mate. Just like Simon Owen is the Best Presenter in Sydney…Well maybe not but close enough :stuck_out_tongue:

From 2gb website.

*Clinton Maynard will host Tuesday to Friday mornings, with Mike Jeffreys in the chair on Monday mornings.

It would of been good if Mike did the weekend overnight show as well.

I’d love to know the full story as to why a radio legend like Mike Jeffries is only on 1 night a week, mid-dawn on 2GB.

Wasted talent, just like Jason Morrison.

Come on Uncle Bill. Open your wallet!

He should be on nights at 2sm.

Maybe I should bring up again Alan Pearsall with his listeners sending cheerios to one another and a little prayer here and there but I guess that is well in the past now.

Mark Allen filling in for Russel Howcroft on 3AW breakfast today.

(I assume Russel is in Sydney today to film the new season premiere of Gruen?)

Gruen is filmed in the late afternoon so I doubt he would need to take time off for it. I don’t think he has done that in the past he just flies in from Melbourne in the early afternoon or morning, does the show and flies back.

He’s presented from the Sydney studio (2GB) previously.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 3AW are warming the chair for Mark Allen who is fast becoming a favourite of the station and appearing on numerous programs throughout the week.

Unfortunately there are more pressing programs they need to deal with: Drive and Mornings!

Apparently Russ is off with Covid.
