4BC will be doing live coverage of the Queensland Local and By-Election Results on Saturday night.

Seasoned broadcasters Bill McDonald and Peter Gleeson will lead the election night’s coverage on Saturday, March 16, from 6.00pm - 9.00pm, discussing and dissecting the consequential outcomes for 4BC listeners, delivering real-time results, alongside a political panel, as they unfold.

I look forward to the results of the next ratings survey, if she makes it

true, 1 survey is not a great indication esp. a summer survey when listening habits are a bit messy still. It will take 2-3 surveys to see any particular pattern.

Yet Heidi in prior off seasons held the audience….

Sure. It till take time…, perfect example though of the content:

Sure having lighter content is good. But it seems to be quite out of skew in more of this content than hard hitting that is what the drive audience expects.

The amount of exclusives and news stories she’s breaking solely because she’s tapping into this social media audience has been immense in a very short time.”

Can anyone elaborate on what exactly these ‘big gets’ are?

I’d imagine that’s an avenue they would have tried. I don’t think he want the commitment however.

that seems like typical FM breakfast radio banter, not hard hitting news/talkback? I get that 3AW is trying to appeal to a younger crowd but is this what a hard hitting drive-time slot should be covering? Maybe for the lighter early-afternoon or evening slots, perhaps. But drive time is usually your hard core breaking news/interviews? But maybe it is just taking time for the new presenter to settle in to the slot?

The beginning of the end of the music experiment on 4BC: Brent James given a nice little redundancy package on Friday. Greg Byrnes flew up for the golden handshake.

Surprised it’s taken this long, expected an announcement when the rugby league season resumed a few weeks ago and there wasn’t a need for the Saturday evening music show.

Most 4BC programs haven’t had music this year. Has been a welcome change as music really put a handbrake on program flow and time for callers. Breakfast continues with music.

Watch the survey holiday around Easter, sure to be an on air audition of sorts for what BC breakfast could sound without the three boredom magnets from KQ.

In my opinion Peter Fegan smashed it over Christmas. He deserves the breakfast role.

Time to pull out the tapes of the last Easter Countdown of 1000 Hits

He does alright, better when he has an experienced media type to bounce off.

Please do, celebrate proper music!

And what was 3AW’s Failgate talking about this afternoon? What is your favourite biscuit! Hard hitting stuff!

Would not surprise me if they give Bill McDonald breakfast and bring back Ray Hadley on mornings.

I hope not 4BC should remain local.

Nine seem very committed with keeping local now they’ve expanded from June 2020 of one local shift to Sep/Oct 2023 of all local day shifts.

Yes I agree. They may well change the hosts of individual shifts but overall they’re now too committed to a strategy of “all local all day” across all their talk stations.

Is 4BC Breakfast still playing as much music?
