3AW resumed normal broadcast at around 9.30am AEDT, but not after this:
Or bring back George Moore if he is interested. Moore is no good on his own, he needs a good sidekick. Maybe that clown on Channel 9 News, he has done it before.
Maybe George Moore with someone like Natalie Peters?
My ideal lineup would be Chris OâKeefe and Natalie Peters for something a bit younger than the usual old bloke shouting at the microphone in Chris Smith.
George Moore followed by The Two Murrayâs.
Now weâre talking!
Who are we kidding. Itâll be another washed up Channel Nine personality.
In my opinion Natalie Peters is an average talent and a just ok newsreader. Maybe this is why they took her off morning newsreading. I guess they will have her on Christmas Morning, I wonât be listening.
Just imagine if 2SM were to put Chris Smith at Sydney breakfast.
I hope that doesnât happen he has had too many chances already.
John Stanley is an amazing employee. Mr Reliable.
Looks like The Real Love Boat will be back after all but with a new host and âcelebritiesâ.
When was the last time 2GB (or even 2UE) did a Radiothon? Other metro markets do it more often than Sydney does.
2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon - 2GB - 2GB - Sydneyâs premier news and talk radio station
Not anymore.
Chris Smith sacked from cruise job as well as Sky News Australia and 2GB
Luxury Mediterranean cruise firm Travelrite International has now let him go from his job as a celebrity host on one of its cruises.
Good!
Iâm a big fan of Bill Woods, heâs been calling the iron man this weekend. I remember him hosting the V8 Supercars many years ago.
Michael McLaren hosted Breakfast on 2GB this morning as John Stanley has got COVID. Michael said that John will hopefully be back tomorrow. Great opportunity for Michael nonetheless. There was some speculation in The Australian that either Michael, Luke Grant, Bill Woods or Joe Hildebrand could get the permanent weekends gig with Chris Smith gone.
Itâll unfortunately likely be Luke Grant.
Michael McLaren would be the best fit.
Joe and Bill are only good for fill-ins.
2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon raises more than $100,000 for charity
Sydneyâs 2GB fundraising campaign, The Vinnies Christmas Radiothon, has raised more than $100,000 to support local families doing it tough this Christmas.
More than 500 individuals â including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Peter Dutton, Dan Tehan, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Chris Minns and Mark Latham â contributed to the all-day on-air campaign on Friday, 16th December. Individual donations ranged from $10 up to a $10,000 contribution made at 5.57pm, taking the tally over the $100,000-mark just before the close of the Radiothon at 6.00pm.
2GB Content Manager, Luke Davis, said: âWhen the team at Vinnies put out the call for help with their Christmas Appeal, the 2GB family did what we do best â sprung into action! Our listeners, clients, supporters and staff rallied behind this great cause, contributing in any way they could, across a truly uplifting day of radio. We were blown away at the generosity of so many.â
â2GB prides itself on making a difference in our community each and every day, and the $100,000 raised as part of this Radiothon will â with the help of the good people at Vinnies â make a significant and very real difference to the lives of many this Christmas.â
CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, Jack de Groot, said: â2GB has done an outstanding job helping the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW raise more than $100,000 as part of our Christmas Appeal to help families survive the cost of living crisis. This will help us provide assistance to the many people experiencing disadvantage including homelessness, domestic violence and poverty throughout the state.â
âI want to thank 2GB, which has been a long-term partner of the Society, and I also want to thank the hosts for being such good sports and everyone behind the scenes who helped us achieve this great result.â
Some of the highlights from the 2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon included presenters John Stanley and Mark Levy sing a live duet of âSanta Claus is Coming to Townâ; Mark Levy agreeing to take on Paul Gallen in the boxing ring (wearing flippers) thanks to a Ben Fordham donation; Joe Hildebrand personally donating $4,000 in lieu of buying a family puppy; Chef Jason Roberts donating a $100 note from the wallet of his late father, who always wanted to support the âunderdogâ; and Money News presenter Luke Grant attracting donations thanks to one of his popular recorder recitals.
If you missed any of the action, you can catch up on the best bits from the 2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon via the Radiothon blog, and donate to the appeal here.
Mark Allen hosting Wide World of Sports on 3AW this week after Matt Granland, Jimmy Bartel and Bruce Eva filled in for the past two weeks.
Jimmy Bartel had said that Sam McClure would return to the hosting chair after taking a short holiday following Australiaâs exit from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Now it looks like that Sam wonât be back until the new year.
Clinton Maynard did overnights last night, Was Bill Woods meant to be on up until Christmas?
No, Clinton is doing weekday overnights until mid January, Bill Woods is filling in for John Stanley.
