Michael McLaren would be the best fit.
Joe and Bill are only good for fill-ins.

Sydney’s 2GB fundraising campaign, The Vinnies Christmas Radiothon, has raised more than $100,000 to support local families doing it tough this Christmas.
More than 500 individuals – including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Peter Dutton, Dan Tehan, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Chris Minns and Mark Latham – contributed to the all-day on-air campaign on Friday, 16th December. Individual donations ranged from $10 up to a $10,000 contribution made at 5.57pm, taking the tally over the $100,000-mark just before the close of the Radiothon at 6.00pm.
2GB Content Manager, Luke Davis, said: “When the team at Vinnies put out the call for help with their Christmas Appeal, the 2GB family did what we do best – sprung into action! Our listeners, clients, supporters and staff rallied behind this great cause, contributing in any way they could, across a truly uplifting day of radio. We were blown away at the generosity of so many.”
“2GB prides itself on making a difference in our community each and every day, and the $100,000 raised as part of this Radiothon will – with the help of the good people at Vinnies – make a significant and very real difference to the lives of many this Christmas.”
CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, Jack de Groot, said: “2GB has done an outstanding job helping the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW raise more than $100,000 as part of our Christmas Appeal to help families survive the cost of living crisis. This will help us provide assistance to the many people experiencing disadvantage including homelessness, domestic violence and poverty throughout the state.”
“I want to thank 2GB, which has been a long-term partner of the Society, and I also want to thank the hosts for being such good sports and everyone behind the scenes who helped us achieve this great result.”
Some of the highlights from the 2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon included presenters John Stanley and Mark Levy sing a live duet of ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’; Mark Levy agreeing to take on Paul Gallen in the boxing ring (wearing flippers) thanks to a Ben Fordham donation; Joe Hildebrand personally donating $4,000 in lieu of buying a family puppy; Chef Jason Roberts donating a $100 note from the wallet of his late father, who always wanted to support the ‘underdog’; and Money News presenter Luke Grant attracting donations thanks to one of his popular recorder recitals.
If you missed any of the action, you can catch up on the best bits from the 2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon via the Radiothon blog, and donate to the appeal here.
Mark Allen hosting Wide World of Sports on 3AW this week after Matt Granland, Jimmy Bartel and Bruce Eva filled in for the past two weeks.
Jimmy Bartel had said that Sam McClure would return to the hosting chair after taking a short holiday following Australia’s exit from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Now it looks like that Sam won’t be back until the new year.
Clinton Maynard did overnights last night, Was Bill Woods meant to be on up until Christmas?
No, Clinton is doing weekday overnights until mid January, Bill Woods is filling in for John Stanley.
A shame Nine didn’t get Tim Webster before the ABC did.
Hilarious, The Oz has nothing to fill their column inches with to suggest four names. They are admitting they have no clue at all.
3aw and 4bc should of also joined in for the Vinnes Christmas Radiothon not just 2gb
More money would of been able to raised then
The digs at Chris Smith are not only coming from his former Sky News colleagues.
John Stanley still mentioning when he thought he was going to be on holidays - obviously referring to his late call up to cover breakfast.
According to the WWOS show page, Sam will return on the same date as all other regular 3AW presenters on January 16 (I think December below is a typo).
Still on as per the schedule. Is Clinton aiming for comedy? Has talked about why he won’t be serving gravy on Christmas Day. Then has Prof David Flint on for his weekly grenade throwing. Am surprised print/online newsrooms overnight never pick up on it.

Both 2GB and 4BC also took the live coverage of the Carols By Candlelight from 3AW tonight. No usual Saturday Night Live or Country Music Countdown program.
Hope Susie brings her hearing aid with her
If I had been at a loose end today, I would’ve called and squeezed a quick quip in about that. Very annoying commercials, patronising too, I bet the product is rubbish too.
@glen2006 rightly mentioned no country music countdown as Phil & Simon went straight through.
What a relief no idiotic country music, a legacy of the Singo/dark days of 2GB.
3AW was the national program feed for 12hrs or more, Christmas Eve night from whatever time Bruce & Phil began to 6am with Pat Panetta overnight.
Less 2GB and more 3AW is always a good thing.
Merry Christmas all.
What’s the 6PR programming schedule across Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day?
Did they take 3AW live for Carols from, say, 3pm? Or heaven forbid, on delay?
Or is there some Perth Christmas Eve radio tradition?
Christmas Day was local
6 to Midday - Russell Collett
Midday to 6pm - Harvey Deegan
6pm to Midnight - Tony McManus.
Tony McManus was on last night. Fred Mafrica also back from holidays doing overnight.
Not sure who was on yesterday morning, but Sean Lindsay did 12 to 6pm.
What’s the context around this?
Susie has been flogging hearing aids on 2GB all year and claims to have a deafness problem herself. Apart from that I thought she did a good job on Christmas Day at the Bill Crews Foundation from what little I heard. Certainly a lot better than Natalie Peters.
