Nine Radio (Talk)

Can’t they through the SEN or NRL apps? Or on Tune-in (I think RadioApp) or similar via SEN?

There are also plenty of websites and other apps which carry radio streams.

I think they should have traffic every 5 mins or less

They’re not attaching much revenue to the traffic reports.

Be interesting to see how much it interferes with existing formats of the shows?

Wonder if 3Aw’s updates will still come from from the dept of transport. I’m not sure they’re live atm. But not sure.

From Nine Radio (Music)

Traffic every 10 mins, how much talk can they fit in?

This is the latest Ad running for the new number on 3AW. This is the 3rd version they have running as there are ones with different versions of the theme under it. I’ll try to cap the other ones.

Think he’s refering to the ACE regional AM stations being overloaded with talk.

Yeah - 2AY for example is more or less a 3AW simulcast, with absolutely tiny blocks of music programming. Other stations in the network I think have a few extra shifts of not being 3AW, but it’s really a lot.

I suppose I wonder if they are using operating Nine’s music stations as a part of a deal to keep their stations full of Nine Radio syndicated content - when Triple M regional have dropped a number of shows of late.

Essentially all commercial radio in the US and UK (with the exception of those in smaller markets and not part of a big network) is geo-blocked (unless in some cases you use a VPN). The Audacy app in the US is the only way you can access the streams of their O&O stations on a cellphone (none of their stations are on TuneIn, MyRadioTuner or other third party radio streaming apps) this app is only available on US app stores.

No they aren’t Live. Haven’t been for quite a while now.

Caught a few this arvo, still from Dept of Transport but the spot following the 6pm news was read by the same person as ABC Melbourne, so fair to say somebody isn’t live.

Must be getting something, sponsored by Hyundai with a full length spot following.

The US maybe but not UK.

You can listen to practically all UK commercial stations easily without a VPN through apps like Radio UK.

And for what it’s worth, the Nine streams aren’t geoblocked either. The logins are, but not the actual streams.

Nine are using StreamTheWorld as their streaming host. I won’t provide a direct link as posts with unadvertised links to streams have previously been removed from this forum…but suffice to say all StreamTheWorld streams have a standardised URL structure which can be used to download the playlist to connect to the stream (which is better than going direct to the streaming server as StreamTheWorld load balance streams across multiple servers and regularly move streams around the servers. The playlist is always an up-to-date listing) Google it if you’re interested.

I find most stations in the US have the same approach of geoblocking access from their website and app, but not geoblocking the actual stream. A handful geoblock the actual stream but they are few and far between.

Thinking about their structure it’ll have to be traffic on the 5s won’t it? Or they shorten their news bulletins to 4 minutes and make it traffic on the 4s.

Neil working from home still and without power due to the storm. Broadcasting via a generator at home hoping he has enough petrol till midday!

Yes, the Global, BBC and Virgin stations can be listened to online or via a mobile app - worldwide, and the Bauer stations you can listen on radio.net
