Nine Radio (Talk)

Great, thanks @TV.Cynic , good to know.

Yes, should be complete rewrite of the script.

Rumour file saiid AW js getting a new talkback number this morning.

Is it 133 693 or 131 693?

There’s really no problem with 96 900 693 & 13 13 32, but I guess it makes sense to change for consistency with 2GB.

That’s terrible if Australian radio loses the famous 13 13 32 open line number.

Likely down to cost I would imagine.

Interestingly, a search of https://www.thenumberingsystem.com.au shows that Nine Radio own a bunch of numbers ending in 693.

133 693 and 1300 000 693 both go through to the 3AW switchboard.
136 693, and those showing the status as “spare” aren’t connected.

I noticed one of these 4BC ad the other night was during Love Island  Not quite hitting the target demographic.

Indeed, quite a misplaced promo.

Within @webguy 's screenshot, the Perth FM freq also catered for: 133 913.

And it appears 133 693 is the winner. Neil Mitchell just explained that they won’t use 96 900 693 or 13 13 32 from next week. It’ll just be the one number.

I’d say that they’ll redirect to the new number for the next few months at least.

It will be interesting to see if Sportsday Victoria will use 133 693 from next week, given it is produced by Crocmedia.

Maybe 4BU can take their number back - 4BU 1332AM.

Isn’t the history that it is where the number originated from back when John Laws was at the station?

Really at the end of the day, it’s just a phone number. They have changed them before and if they change again people will adjust.

It’s not that exciting or sad really.

If anything, surely it’s a good thing that Nine Radio are spending money on local phone numbers with the frequency in each market?

Phone numbers ending with the local station frequency are likely to be a fair bit more memorable than a generic number likely to be often confused with one for a well known mobile mechanic service! :open_mouth:

Not really a fan of the new phone number, it sounds a bit cheesy. “1-3-3, 6-9-3!”

Will miss the 96 900 693 and 13 13 32, but I guess it makes sense to save costs and have just the one line operating.

Does anyone else find it annoying 2GB has different branding to the rest of the network? You’d think they could come up with something new and have all stations look the same.

There was a perfect, yet completely missed opportunity to give the talk stations a whole new look with 4BC’s frequency switch a fortnight ago.

One can only hope they’re waiting for 6PR’s conversion to FM. But again, I won’t be holding my breath.
