Nine Radio (Talk)

Over the last 6 months he has said on air “off to a medical appointment” and in other cases finished off early to attend a “meeting”

I think I can count it 6 times at a minimum it’s happened

Does anyone has problem visiting the 3AW website this afternoon? When I tried to go to the site I got a message “Site Not Found”.

They announced on Twitter the site is down but streaming via app and devices is online.

Heidi Murphy hosting 3AW Mornings today (Friday 06th August).

Interesting to see her instead of usual fill-in Tony Jones. Clint Stanaway did sport on Nine News Melbourne last night, so Tony might be sick or on holidays.

The 3AW site was back online last night.

Tony is on holidays I believe.

But I find it weird that Heidi is on after yesterday she specifically said on air “Neil will be back tomorrow, in the chair” she said it a few times and confidently.

Look I might be reading into it, but I have a feeling Neil is unwell. When watching the webcam he hasn’t looked well for a while now. Honestly hope he is ok.
Obviously not our business if he is battling something and choosing to keep it private. The only reason I raise it is because it is just very unusual for his work pattern over the last few years. He’s a workaholic.

Just find it very out of character for him and hope he is ok,

Nine Radio reveals first snapshot of digital streaming numbers

New live streaming data for Nine Radio’s talk stations show the network achieving record numbers and double-digit growth in July.

According to figures released today, the radio network achieved more than 11 million streams in the month of July, up 11 percent on June, along with growth in total listening hours and total cumulative audience.

The surge comes as states along the Eastern seaboard endure COVID lockdowns and listeners turn to Nine’s trusted talk radio stations for the latest and most accurate news.

Nine’s Head of Digital Audio Hayley Bourne also noted the growing trend in listeners tuning in via their station apps and smart devices. “This is the first time we’ve released a clear digital snapshot to market and what you can see through 11 million stream starts with an average session time of 59 minutes, is a highly engaged and valuable audience.”

Source: Triton Streaming Metrics, Session Starts, July 1-31 2021 vs June 1-30 2021, unless otherwise specified.

“COVID and the recent lockdowns played a role in last month’s streaming growth especially during traditional workday hours. Ray Hadley’s decision to broadcast the NSW Premier’s media conference at 11am each day on 2GB has seen a 48 percent increase in stream starts of his program. These numbers reinforce the fact that talk radio – with its live and local nature – is highly sought-after content, through traditional or digital platforms.”

Nine intends to release regular digital audio snapshots going forward.

They REALLY need consistent branding.

Pre-Nine and Fairfax, Southern Cross changed their logos a few times IIRC.

Find it amusing, every morning watching the webcam Neil is always frustrated when Jane has her segment for TV. We know he doesn’t like fluff as it’s pretty obvious listening and watching…
Must be due to the length of her segment always going over but you can always see him trying to rush her to finish and him getting incredibly frustrated… this says it all from his perspective I guess!

I have also noticed that Ray Hadley has missed broadcasting the key words for their stupid competition they are running atm. Where you have key words announced each hour and you have to call in the last hour and say the two keywords in order to win $1000. Which is hardly worth it for the amount of money up for grabs. I’m sure he has shown similar expressions shown on the live cam stream.

Presumably because Hadley is networked to 4BC as well as outside Nine Radio

It’s running throughout the day on 2GB not just Hadley’s show.

Has it run on Hadley’s show before today?

Maybe he feels like he’s on hold to telstra. But seriously, that would be one of the longest running segments on Melbourne radio, if it gives him the irrits so much just drop it.

You reckon? I feel the longest are the bloody sport and car segments which are worse.

I feel he gets like that a fair bit throughout the program and it’s not just Jane. I guess he just wants it all to be short and punchy which I understand.

Here’s a video of what I managed to capture, the audio is out of sync due to their webcam delay today.

I missed the end where there was a motion to the control room and I think a swear world :joy:

There would be a lot of swearing when the mic’s off, thankfully they’re good operators. The offensive things program teams can say in the gaps when mics are off would curl the ears of many.

I think there’s been a daily TV segment since he started, probably predates him.

Funny you mention that. I notice the Favouritism in News Readers (ie the air time between David Armstrong and Denis O’Kane and even when the women newsreaders are on. I just think he getting far too grumpy for radio

I do not know if he realises the underlying favouritism(or Sexism depend on the way you look at it) it but if It one thing I noticed when listening to his programs
