Yeah, Clarke failed on Breakfast, and wasn’t much of a success on Drive and Nights despite Jones and Hadley being instant hits on Breakfast and Mornings during that time. I thought he was rather boring.

Surely most of us can agree that John Stanley should be the current presenter of 2GB Drive?
While I like Jim Wilson, he’s better suited to TV. Similar deal with Deborah Knight.
Phillip Clark was probably better suited to 2BL/702 ABC Sydney, where he presented their breakfast show before moving over to 2GB?

I would say Nine’s strategy is to use as much of their talent on Radio as they can, complimenting the Radio-only talent which needs to pull its own to survive. This helps Nine to reduce its talent costs.

No.
He modelled himself as a Jones clone. That ship has sailed.
First rule of radio programming, only one change at a time. However, by swapping Deb and Jim, Deb is a tougher, focussed journo suited to Drive. Jim on Afternoons seems his place - that could add a better flow and re-focus drive with a harder edge, faster pace. I like Jim, just not on Drive. Stanley has very strong end of day numbers, leave him there.

2GB’s nighttime ratings have been strong for many years though…
Kate Stevenson returned to 3AW breakfast today as a spokesperson for Victorian Department of Transport, explaining the splitting of traffic lanes on West Gate Freeway from tomorrow as part of West Gate Tunnel project.

Interesting you say that. Sports Today (which is a Croc Media production) was talking to 7’s Nathan Templeton this week and at the end Gerard said " that was great. Would you be able to be our nightly correspondent in Tokyo Nathan?" “Sure; just contact 7 publicity or my agent…” Not sure he was joking either. Healy mentions 7’s Sharnelle Vella every single night and apparently she is going to be a regular on their show during the olympics

Yes indeed ! As I also posted here last week supporting Luke Grant filling in on 2GB drive for a couple of days for dozy old Jim Wilson. Actually both Luke Grant and Michael McLaren should be in prominent major day shifts elsewhere … check my recent post on the 2SM 1269 Sydney thread.

Have they really been happening a lot lately? This is the only occasion that comes to mind for me this year, though I know there were quite a few last year.
It might not have been a medical appointment, all Neil said this morning was “a meeting I can’t avoid.”
On another note, Neil turns 70 this year. Will be interesting to see how many years he has left to go.
