Nine Radio (Talk)

3AW’s cross-media ownership disclaimer mentions The Age and The Australian Financial Review.

2GB’s one doesn’t mention the AFR. Nor does it mention 2UE as a sister station.

So some changes to the 4BC weekday line-up now to cater for daylight savings - including the new addition of Bill McDonald.

4.30am - 5.30am Neil Breen Highlights
5.30am - 9am Neil Breen
9am - 11am Ray Hadley
11am - 2pm Deborah Knight
2pm - 3pm Bill McDonald
3pm - 6pm Scott Emerson

looks like Wide World Of Sports and Money News still continuing at their respective times on delay - before rejoining the Evenings and Overnights programs live at 8pm.

Tweet from Neil Breen RE: addition of Bill McDonald to the line-up:

Bill should just do the entire lunch shift

Neil should do til 10am then Bill 10-2 then Scott 2-6.

Easy fix. All local.

Yeah why not just have him do 12-3 or even 11-3? Seems a waste to bring in an announcer for just 1 hour, particularly when Nine claim to be focussing on restoring local to 4BC.

Who is Bill McDonald?

Former Seven News Brisbane co-anchor alongside Sharyn Ghidella, before he was cut and replaced by Max Futcher in March 2018 in an attempt to boost ratings.

And previously co-anchor with Georgina Lewis for 10 News Brisbane before he was cut there as well.

How’s the numbers for he BTQ 6pm bulletin compared to when Bill presented? Winning any more weeks against QTQ? Or same or less post Bill?

IIRC the numbers were much better for the rest of 2018 and in 2019 without Bill there and they won the year against Nine, although the tables have turned this year with QTQ set to beat BTQ.

I really like Alicia, but when she fills in for DeeDee I find she’s constantly shouting and it’s really jarring for an afternoon program. I feel she needs to drop the News anchor voice a bit.

Otherwise I really love hearing her on the show.

Howcroft had known long-time 3AW breakfast ratings machine Ross Stevenson for a long time, counts him as a friend, and had also spent time in the 3AW studios previously doing guest-hosting on weekend shows. “I had also been in the breakfast studio doing a segment with Ross. Before this year we certainly weren’t strangers.”

He also noted that his middle son and Stevenson’s elder son are at the same primary school. “That’s where I first met Ross.”

Yeah this is… not a good look.

The Daily Mail has hit back ferociously at Erin Molan’s defamation lawsuit, raking through several years of rugby league podcasts in a bid to prove in court that the sports presenter is racist.

The 61-page bombshell truth defence references the Nine star’s co-hosts, alleging the Continuous Call Team frequently spouted “racist content” on the show by mocking Pacific Islander and Maori names and emulating Chinese, Indian and other accents.

Yeah, that sounds like exactly the type of thing I’d expect to be “humour” on 2GB!

Some of those extracts are so deplorable. And they acknowledged that people would find it offensive.

I’m not surprised with her given her pedigree. Her fathers is just as vile.

This was bound to happen sooner or later, whether or not he is contesting to become the next Lord Mayor of Perth.

Bit of a shame really, but at least he’ll get the sleep-ins now. I listen to them on the 6PR website every now and again, in particular for the entertainment/gossip reports with Peter Ford.

Will be interesting to see if Seven pull Nick McCallum and Peter Ford off Nine Radio products too.

Similar thing happened to Seven’s Jane Bunn earlier on the year, who used to do the weather on 3AW’s breakfast show, before she was pulled off by Seven.

Very poor of SWM to instruct such a move.
