None of our business unless you’re perhaps a shareholder in Macquarie
Well, it was just out of interest.
I know Ross has had two lucrative multi-million dollar long-term contracts (in 2004 & 2011 respectively)…
As a public company you can access Macquarie radio’s total wage bill on line. In 2014 it was $54M and in 2015 it was $60M. That’s a 10% increase in wages. They must be:
- hiring more employees or
- giving existing workers a 10% pay rise (and average pay rises in Australia are only 2% per annum at the moment).

Alan Jones is on approximately $4.5 million pa while Hadley is on about $2.6 million pa.
I somewhat doubt MMN will completely drop the 2UE name as rumoured. I predict it’ll just be the new logo launch that we will see.
Why change a logo only to change the name 6mths or so later?
I suppose then again this is MMN.
I think the 2UE name will almost certainly be kept after September 1, but I daresay we’ll probably get new/relaunched On-Air branding elements (probably something that’s very different from the current/traditional sound of 2UE’s branding) and that god awful Fisher Price-style logo/slogan we’ve already seen.
Checking online streaming, 2GB overnight with the nasal impersonator of AJ, Michael McLaren is now on 4BC. 3AW/John Deeks receiving callers from Brisbane upset with the change.
Wouldn’t be many, most have turned off 4BC.
John Deeks mentioned last night that his gig is for only three weeks. Whilst I do believe that Melbourne should have their own overnight show as the programme is very much different particularly with callers I still wonder if Macquarie will continue with two overnight programmes.
Certainly clear from hearing the shows, calls logged with producers and online that McLaren is not exciting the audiences in Canberra and Brisbane.
What is the lineup on 2UE with Bill Woods gone? Who is covering drive? Has the shift schedule changed?
Clinton Maynard doing drive plus sounds like Sports Today has finally wrapped up completely.
Sam “Scoop” McClure arrived in Rio late Tuesday night Brazil time, and will be part of Macquarie Radio’s Olympic reporting team with Shane McInnes and 2GB deputy news director Natalie Peters.
The Big Backyard in Central Victoria
For the first time since the programme went to air on 3AW, “The Big Backyard” with Darren James and Jane Edmanson will get Central Victoria into the garden when Local station Radio KLFM launches the show this Saturday and Sunday from 7am.

Nothing on the MML syndication website when I last checked.
Also the first time a program from 3AW goes on FM.
They’re also now taking Remember When on Sunday night
It’s obvious that Ben Fordham’s low ratings (the No.1 station is 5th in Drive) are being addressed by making Ben lean to the right. This afternoon he interviewed a One Nation crackpot Malcolm Roberts (who believes he is a sovereign citizen and not subject to Australian or Queensland law - cuckoo - enough said) and when Malcolm made some astonishing claims including that climate change was a conspiracy, Malcolm works for the coal industry, Ben agreed.
Ben then hung up on a caller who questioned Malcolm’s beliefs.
Ben has lots of journalist friends and he is lurching to the right. I reckon management are pushing him to the right. He is going to hurt his credibility. At least when Alan questions climate science he has some fake statistics to back him up. Ben just has Malcolm Roberts. And Google “Andrew Bolt Malcolm Roberts”. Andrew Bolt thinks Malcolm is nuts.
Ben should think carefully as he moves to the right - the far right does not suit him.
I never listen to 2GB but I just assumed that was one of the employment criteria.
Steve Price seems like the obvious choice to replace Fordham. Not sure who should go into Nights. Bring back Brian Wilshire
Stuart bocking
I thought that Brian Wilshire is happily retired now (or at least semi-retired, remembering that he filled in on 2GB overnights for a month recently) and currently focused on finishing off that book which hasn’t quite ready yet for the better part of four years now!
As for Ben Fordham, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if he left 2GB drive the moment that Nine offers Fordo a decent regular role on TV!
Hadley’s current executive producer Michael Thompson will be running 2UE, and from next month it will be full of advertorial content like on the morning television programs, The Australian is reporting.
So not really lifestyle, more Luke Bona type NatureBee spiels I expect.
