Nine Radio (Talk)

it’s even cheaper again when there is a list of sponsors as long as your arm:

That’s Derryn Hinch, somewhat unsurprisingly.

Meanwhile in Perth: Arson attack on Radio 6PR and WAtoday building
Around 10.15am on Sunday morning fire alarms went off and staff in the 6PR and WAtoday newsroom evacuated.

“When we have two fires and no other obvious means of igniting them it looks as if someone had deliberately set these fires,” said Station Officer Darren Martin.
Bill Woods is leaving 2UE, tomorrow it seems, and rumoured to be going to Fox Sports. Stuart Bocking is also leaving 2UE tomorrow, he says he will be taking a break then will be back with 2GB in both on-air and off-air roles. Luke Bona will be filling in on mornings from Monday. (Source: Facebook)

Sounds like the transition to “Lifestyle Radio” is underway.

Will they finally launch their new logo too come Monday … The one I spotted a few months ago with “Live. Learn. Laugh.”

Bill woods is doing some commentary work for seven during the olympics. Probably from a studio in Sydney or something.

He was another one treated like shit by ten after being there for 24 years.

Luke Bona has just finished on Australia Overnight, and will be replaced by John Deeks (networked from 3AW, my guess is). On Facebook, he wrote that he will be filling in on 2UE Mornings “until they finalize the new line up.”

So they relised that Bona was a bad idea.

Bring Andy Mac back!

Did you hear Deeks when he filled in for Bona a couple of weeks ago? He’s only slightly less vomit inducing than the twit who does weekend overnight.

Shane McInnes is now in Rio reporting on the Olympics for 3AW and the rest of Macquarie Radio Network.

Are they still trying to secure AM commercial radio rights for Rio? Leaving it very late.

No, Macquarie does not have commercial radio rights for Rio. Shane will have to join reporters from Ten, Nine and ABC TV and other non-rights holders to wait outside Olympic venues to interview athletes.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Stuart Bocking end up on 2GB drive sooner or later seeing he was a big contender a few years back.

Good to see Bocking stay on. He’s becoming invincible like John Stanley.

My bet is Bona won’t return to mid-dawns but will likely get a weekday shift. He deserves it.

Will Tim Webster move back to weekends?

Also noticed that John and Garry will now start from 5am again from Monday. I’m assuming this’ll be nationwide? What happens to 4BC from 5-5:30am? Jones doesn’t start till 5:30am doesn’t he?

I doubt they would get rid of Fordham. I don’t think that would be a good idea.

Unless/until Ben Fordham gets a better role at Nine, I can’t see him leaving 2GB’s Drive program.

According to https://www.radioinfo.com.au/news/more-radio-2ue-air-roster-overhaul Bocking will be Hadley’s producer, and on Facebook there’s a rumour he will be Hadley’s regular replacement. The ‘Lifestyle Radio’ format on 2UE supposedly starts on 1 September.

4BC currently opts out of the 2UE/3AW overnight show at 4am to join 2GB’s Wake Up Australia, so that won’t change. Although Macquarie are now offering both the full 2GB overnight show and the 2UE/3AW overnight show for syndication, so I won’t be surprised if 4BC starts taking the full Michael McLaren 2GB overnight show in the near future.

According to Macquarie’s website, Australia Overnight is still available until 5:30, so I’d say the 5am-5:30am portion of the show will continue to be produced but not air on 2UE. 3AW air it until 5:30am as Ross & John start at 5:30, and a lot of regional stations probably still will air the 5am-5:30 portion as well.

If memory serves, when John Kerr was hosting the weekend version of Wake Up Australia, 2UE were opting out of it at 5:30am, and he was continuing on the network until 6am. Likewise 2UE’s weekday breakfast show has intermittently started before the end of the overnight show, and the overnight show continued on network stations after 2UE left.

Haven’t been on this thread for a while…

Is John Deeks or Luke Bona presenting AW overnights?

Tuned in the other week & I’m like “IT’S JOHN DEEKS FROM CH 7!”

On another note, whilst 3AW’s first three surveys were astonishingly good (all increases & record audiences for Breakfast with Ross and John)…

2GB, 4BC & 6PR have all seen consistent declines (even 3AW saw a big drop for Survey 4)

Sign of the times?

Also, how much money are Ross Stevenson, Alan Jones, John Burns, Neil Mitchell & Ray Hadley all getting paid/contracted these days?
