I think 2UE should take the Magic log & I think they’d do better than they are now.
Also I’ve heard from a number of people that they need to change the Magic name, as it’s still associated to shit times & crap music, the bulk of the Melbourne population don’t know it’s changed.
Not sure what they should change it to, as I’m not from Melbourne so don’t know what would resonate with people? I have heard suggestions they should just use 3EE, not sure how that would go, what does that mean in Melbourne, not sure if they’d do better using an old callsign or something completely new?
Greek Media Group have not got the name 3XY or 3XY radio registered. Are you reading this thread Mark Taylor Mark Taylor Mark Taylor. The 3EE callsign would have no impact on the fortunes of Magic 1278. It was used for all of 5 minutes. The Magic licence was 3XY, time to take advantage of it.
3EE has no heritage value, as you say it was only used for a short time on a station that nobody cared for, but it’s an opportunity to create a new brand for the station with a call-sign that isn’t horrendous.
Interesting, though, that the 3XY name is no longer registered. As ill-fitting it was for the Greek station (although the commercial 3XY did have a history of foreign-language programming back in the '60s), it’s not a call-sign you’d want to let go.
But it would only be worth reinstating if it could get back to 1422. 1278 3XY, just, no.
