Interesting. 4BH just cut over to the Melbourne Cup call.
Yes, 9 radio is taking the call today.
According to the Nine Radio Syndication website, Nine Radio (still) has the rights to the Melbourne Cup radio call and all stations must go through Nine to get the call. I wonder if Nine will let the rights go whenever the current contract expires.
Noticed my local Salvos store had 2UE playing (AM) so it must be starting to get discovered.
If anyone has listened to the first hour of the Brent Bultitude show from 2HD/2SM when he plays music is a simple formula 2UE could use across other shifts.
True, though I am guessing Nine doesn’t want any talk on 2UE as to not potentially take listeners off 2GB.
Just heard a sweeper for Perth’s 6GT on 2UE Sydney.
On a positive note they are playing some music I haven’t heard on radio for years including some Linda Ronstadt and even John Sebastion’s Welcome Back Kotter theme.
It’s kinda of good they don’t really care, so the format can occasionally have some real rarities like the songs mentioned.
This is a super old post @Brianc68, I decided to log into a FM radio in the UK and BBC Radio 2 does fill a gap we should fill in Australia.
Since Eddie McGuire quit Triple M. Would Nine Radio go after him now to maybe host afternoons on Nine Radio (Music) ?
Or Breakfast again?
They already have Stevie Jacobs doing breakfast and mornings
The story at Radio Today claims he indicated this:
So it appears he would like to still be involved at Triple M next year.
Did Eddie actually quit? Or did they decide to dump Hot Breakfast? That’s what an article on Mumbrella implies.
He really is “Eddie everywhere”, manages to get on Nine Music thread all the way from MMM. Don’t really equate Eddie with presenting on a music only station. MMM being a bit of a hybrid.
Agree he would be more likely to host a talkback only program than a music only program.
Eddie McGuire would probably be a better fit for 3AW than the music stations?
I personally think the aim for the Nine Music stations over the next year should be to get presenters for Breakfast, Mornings, Afternoons & Drive with a local announcer during at least the Breakfast timeslot…however I’m not holding by breath for this to happen!
But they already have a breakfast announcer!
But he’s not that good… and not live!
The artist specials that are now aired each Saturday at 12pm (and repeated Wednesdays at 6pm) and the little ‘Song Remembers When’ clips that are played throughout the afternoons on 4BH/2UE/Magic etc. - are those produced by Nine Radio for these stations or are these something they’ve acquired from elsewhere? I noticed they added them a few months ago now and was curious about them.
